Will Smith app<\/a>ears to have taken aim at old foe Chris Rock in a new freestyle.<\/p>\n

Appearing on Apple Music\u2019s Fire in the Booth<\/em> series<\/a>, the iconic rapper and actor looked to save some choice bars for the comedia<\/a>n who he famously slapped on stage at the 2022 Oscars.<\/p>\n

While he doesn\u2019t drop Rock\u2019s name, Smith clearly references the incident, spitting: \u201cIf you talking crazy out your face up on the stage and disrespect me on the stage, expect me on the stage.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

He adds: \u201cJokers dish it out, cry foul when its time to take it \/ City full of real ones, wasn\u2019t raised to fake it.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Smith also addressed the Oscars slap on his comeback album Based on a True Story<\/em> which was released earlier this year to financial failure having been unable to even chart on the Billboard 200.<\/p>\n

The opening track features\u00a0DJ Jazzy Jeff\u00a0and B. Simone and is made out to be a barbershop type of convo, where lines like, \u201cI heard he won the Oscar but he had to give it back \u2013 and you know they only made him do that shit because he\u2019s Black\u201d and, \u201cHe\u2019s only still relevant because of his kids,\u201d are sprinkled in.<\/p>\n

And on the song \u201cYou Lookin\u2019 For Me?\u201d he brings up Jada when he raps: \u201cPersonal life with my wife \u2013 mind your business, it\u2019s complicated<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n

During\u00a0a live interview with\u00a0Sway in the Morning<\/em>\u00a0held in his hometown of Philadelphia, Will Smith revealed that he phoned two people \u2014\u00a0JAY-Z\u00a0and\u00a0Kendrick Lamar\u00a0\u2014 for advice before recording the new album.<\/p>\n

According to Smith, his conversation with the Roc Nation mogul was so impactful that it inspired the name of the album.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was like, \u2018Hey, I want to get back in music.\u2019 Jay said like, \u2018Don\u2019t fake your story.\u2019 He was like, \u2018You gotta say what\u2019s true for you,\u2019\u201d he recalled.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd he says, \u2018You\u2019ll be looking at the younger rappers and you want that to be true for you, but you don\u2019t live like that.\u2019 It was like, \u2018Be true to your story. Tell your story.\u2019 And that\u2019s where I got the\u00a0Based on a True Story<\/em>, from Jay.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
