{"id":67781,"date":"2020-09-16T01:30:00","date_gmt":"2020-09-15T22:30:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.buradabiliyorum.com\/windy-city-rehab-returns-as-legal-battles-and-controversies-continue\/"},"modified":"2020-09-16T01:30:00","modified_gmt":"2020-09-15T22:30:00","slug":"windy-city-rehab-returns-as-legal-battles-and-controversies-continue","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/windy-city-rehab-returns-as-legal-battles-and-controversies-continue\/","title":{"rendered":"#&#8217;Windy City Rehab&#8217; Returns as Legal Battles and Controversies Continue"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;<strong>#&#8217;Windy City Rehab&#8217; Returns as Legal Battles and Controversies Continue<\/strong>&#8221;<\/p>\n<div>Improbably, <em>Windy City Rehab<\/em> is returning to HGTV on Tuesday, September 15, as host Alison Victoria Gramenos deals with logistical and legal battles\u2026 and a desire to \u201crip [the] face off\u201d of her costar, contractor Donovan Eckhardt.<\/p>\n<p>In the Season 2 premiere, for example, Gramenos \u2014 who goes by Alison Victoria on the show \u2014 has a loan <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>lication denied and discovers that most of the money budgeted for a stalled renovation has been paid out to Eckhardt\u2019s company.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t know what to believe anymore,\u201d she says in the episode, per <em>People<\/em>. \u201cFor so long, I was letting [Eckhardt] run all the budgets, do all the bank draws, deal with the bank accounts and I was just designing. It\u2019s been shocking.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Eckhardt might not be in the <em>Windy City Rehab<\/em> picture for long, though. He\u2019s not mentioned in an HGTV press release for the show\u2019s second season, and in Tuesday\u2019s premiere, Gramenos discusses untangling their work. \u201cWe have twelve companies together because each house is a different LLC,\u201d she tells a friend. \u201cHow do you get out of that? All of a sudden the dust starts to settle, you start seeing the light. I kept making up excuses.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She adds: \u201cThis is not a test that I will fail. You bet your ass I\u2019m gonna do this the right way, and you bet your ass I\u2019m gonna make the right call.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>On another front, Gramenos is grappling with the city of Chicago. <em>Block Club Chicago<\/em> reports that only eight of the 15 properties owned by Gramenos have received final city approval. Four others are awaiting final inspections, and three are the subjects of active court cases\u2014including a house from Season 1 which has a \u201cdilapidated and dangerous\u201d porch, according to the city.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" frameborder=\"0\" height=\"550\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/boGlus6Tw_E\" width=\"100%\"><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>\u201cInspections of homes under renovation are a common occurrence and issues uncovered during inspections will be addressed with input from local building officials,\u201d HGTV spokesperson Chelsey Riemann said in a statement to the site. \u201cWe extend appreciation to all neighbors who shared comments and thank them for their understanding and support during the production of the <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/watch-movies-tv-seriess\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"8\" title=\"Watch Movies &amp; TV Series\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">series<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s more drama, too. In 2018, Chicago residents filed a petition and met with a local alderman about a <em>Windy City Rehab<\/em> project that was, in the word of one neighbor, \u201cruining the character of the block.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In 2019, Chicago officials suspended permit privileges for both Gramenos and Eckhardt and issued 12 stop-work orders at <em>Windy City Rehab<\/em> properties.<\/p>\n<p>That December, a Chicago couple who purchased a <em>Windy City Rehab<\/em> house sued Gramenos, Eckhardt and contractor Ermin Pajazetovic, claiming to be living in a \u201cdefective\u201d $1.3 million property. \u201cThe Morrisseys have not enjoyed a single day in their \u2018new\u2019 home without being troubled by major construction defects,\u201d an attorney for the couple told the <em>Chicago Tribune<\/em>. \u201cIn fact, on the day they moved in, an upstairs shower drained through the kitchen ceiling. Since then, there have been a cascade of issues coming to light including water infiltration, rotting windows, and masonry, to name a few.\u201d (A hearing for the case is scheduled for September 22.)<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" frameborder=\"0\" height=\"550\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/vjMt6LdCARs\" width=\"100%\"><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>That same month, Pajazetovic\u2019s company sued Eckhardt and another company over $108,500 of allegedly unpaid work, though a counterclaim accuses Pajazetovic and Eckhardt of conspiring in a \u201cscheme\u201d to divert funds from that renovation and a separate project to \u201cprop up\u201d <em>Windy City Rehab<\/em> work. Pajazetovic\u2019s attorney denied that allegation to the <em>Tribune<\/em>, and September 24 is listed as a status update for the case.<\/p>\n<p>And this April, another Chicago couple filed suit against the same parties\u2014plus HGTV and companies run by Gramenos and Eckhardt\u2014over what the couple called \u201cdefective and incomplete work\u201d at their <em>Windy City Rehab<\/em> house. They listed more than 30 problems in their complaint\u2014including mold, severe water damage, and a sewage odor\u2014but Gramenos\u2019 attorney called the allegations \u201cmisleading and baseless,\u201d according to the <em>Tribune<\/em>.
