Ether has app<\/a>reciated nearly 90,000% in the 10 years since the two Ethereum wallets received their coins.<\/p>\n Two Ethereum wallets dormant for nearly a decade were activated on Monday, moving a combined 1,140 Ether tokens worth nearly $2.9 million. <\/p>\n The two wallets \u2014 one starting in \u201c0x27<\/a>\u201d and the other \u201c0x7f<\/a>\u201d \u2014 were created 3,630 days ago, on July 30, 2015. That date marked the mainnet launch of the Ethereum blockchain, a phase called \u201cFrontier\u201d in the history of the ecosystem. Both wallets received their inicial Ether (ETH) from transactions labeled as \u201cGENESIS\u201d on Etherscan, indicating they were funded at launch.<\/p>\n Ethereum debuted in 2015 as a proof-of-work blockchain, featuring traditional mining and block rewards akin to the Bitcoin network.
