After debuting with a look at the biggest rounds so far this year, we now turn to the largest deals in the Netherlands for H1.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Startups in the Netherlands raised just $503mn (\u20ac429mn) in the first quarter of this year \u2014 the lowest quarterly total since the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic, according to Dealroom data. But three months later, the outlook has improved.<\/p>\n<p>Total funding for the first half of 2025 hit $1.4bn (\u20ac1.2bn). Here\u2019s the full list.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"1Azafaros_%E2%80%94_E132M\"><\/span><b>1.Azafaros \u2014 \u20ac132M\u00a0<\/b><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">HQ: Leiden\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Azafaros develops small-molecule drugs targeting rare metabolic disorders. The company raised \u20ac132mn in a Series B round in June 2025.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"2_Finom_%E2%80%94_E115M\"><\/span><b>2. Finom<\/b> <b>\u2014<\/b> <b>\u20ac115M<\/b><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">HQ: Amsterdam\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Finom operates a pan-European neobank for SMEs and entrepreneurs. It raised a <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u20ac115mn Series C in June, following a \u20ac50mn <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Series B round<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> the previous year.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"3_Mews_%E2%80%94_E64M\"><\/span><b>3. Mews<\/b> <b>\u2014<\/b> <b>\u20ac64M<\/b><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">HQ: Amsterdam\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Hospitality platform Mews<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> secured $75mn (<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u20ac64mn)<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">in March. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In total, Mews has bagged over $500mn (<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u20ac425mn)<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to date, making it one of the Netherlands\u2019 best-funded scaleups.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"4_Toloka_%E2%80%94_E62M\"><\/span><b>4. Toloka<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2014 <\/span><b>\u20ac62M<\/b><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">HQ: Amsterdam\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Toloka is a crowdsourcing platform that uses a global network of human workers to label and evaluate data \u2014 text, images, audio, and more \u2014 for training and improving AI models. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The business is part of Dutch AI infrastructure company <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Nebius<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In May, Toloka raised $72mn (<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u20ac62mn) in a funding round led by Jeff Bezos\u2019 investment firm, Bezos Expeditions.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"5_Leyden_Labs_%E2%80%94_E60M\"><\/span><b>5. Leyden Labs<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2014 <\/span><b>\u20ac60M<\/b><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">HQ: Leiden<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Leyden Labs is developing intranasal medicines to protect against respiratory viruses. In January, it raised $70mn (\u20ac60mn), bringing its total raised to <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">$257mn (<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u20ac220mn).<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"6_Alesta_Therapeutics_%E2%80%94_E56M\"><\/span><b>6. Alesta Therapeutics \u2014 <\/b><b>\u20ac56M<\/b><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">HQ: Leiden<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Alesta Therapeutics is another biotech startup from Leiden \u2014 home to one of Europe\u2019s leading life science hubs. The company focuses on developing small-molecule therapies for rare diseases, which are taken orally. In January, it raised <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">$65mn (<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u20ac56mn) in Series A funding. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"7_Salvia_BioElectronics_%E2%80%94_E53M\"><\/span><b>7. Salvia BioElectronics \u2014 <\/b><b>\u20ac53M<\/b><b>\u00a0<\/b><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">HQ: Eindhoven<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Salvia BioElectronics makes soft brain implants to treat chronic migraines using gentle electrical pulses. In May, the startup raised <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u20ac53mn in Series B funding.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"8_Avidicure_%E2%80%94_E44M\"><\/span><b>8. Vivici \u2014 \u20ac32.5M<\/b><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><b\/><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Vivici is a foodtech startup using precision fermentation to produce animal-free dairy proteins. Its proteins are designed to replace traditional dairy ingredients like whey and casein.
