My balance sucks. It\u2019s like being a boat,\u201d Joel told Bill Maher\u2019s <em>Club Random <\/em>podcast, which dropped on Monday (below). Joel, who was seated at a piano during the interview, added that doctors are still caring for his condition, which used to be called \u201cwater on the brain\u201d and for which there\u2019s little understanding of a cause.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\t\u201cThey don\u2019t know\u2026 I thought it must be from drinking,\u201d Joel, who has since given up alcohol, ventured. \u201cI feel good. They keep referring to what I have as a brain disorder, so it sounds a lot worse than what I\u2019m feeling,\u201d he insisted.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube\">\n<p>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Billy Joel | Club Random\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/5UhXgiKmllw?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tWhen the legendary singer and songwriter first shared his health diagnosis in late May, his representatives in a statement said the condition \u201chas been\u00a0exacerbated\u00a0by recent concert performances, leading to\u00a0problems with\u00a0hearing, vision and balance.\u201d That led to physical therapy for Joel for a potential full recovery.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tJoel\u2019s sit-down with Maher coincides with the debut of his\u00a0HBO\u00a0documentary\u00a0<em>And So It Goes<\/em>, the first part of which premiered on the premium cable channel on Friday. Part Two will air on Friday, July 25.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tThe two-parter offers an intimate portrait of the six-time Grammy Award-winning Rock and Roll Hall of Famer.\u00a0\u201cOur abiding principle was to let the music lead so that people could understand what made this artist tick, and what went into his music, and to get a peek behind his process but also an understanding of how his real-life experiences fed his music and his lyrics,\u201d co-director Jessica Levin recently told\u00a0<em>The Hollywood Reporter<\/em> of Joel, who has written 121 songs and of which the film includes 110 of them.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tDuring the <em>Club Random<\/em> podcast, Joel admitted at one time to considering bringing on board a song-writing partner. \u201cI thought about it,\u201d he said.
