\n\tThe team behind Resident Alien<\/em> is still coming to terms with the sci-fi show\u2019s end after its cancellation was revealed midway through season four.<\/p>\n

\n\tAhead of Resident Alien\u2019<\/em>s season four finale airing Aug. 8 on USA Network and Syfy, The Hollywood Reporter<\/em> confirmed on Thursday that the series<\/a> has been canceled. Alan Tudyk, Sara Tomko, Corey Reynolds and Alice Wetterlund are among the stars of the project that centers on Harry (Tudyk), an alien who lands on Earth and assumes the identity of a small-town doctor while developing a fondness for mankind.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cIt is bittersweet,\u201d Reynolds tells THR<\/em> during a video interview with the show\u2019s team from San Diego Comic-Con. \u201cWe\u2019re all grateful for the opportunity. With what we know about what\u2019s coming in the storytelling [in] these last three episodes, it creates the perfect environment for someone to come in and watch our show from top to bottom and get a full meal, the whole thing.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe actor continues, \u201cWhen you love something, you never want to let it go. All of us bring a tremendous amount of love for this project, for the people we work with, for the people we work for. And so it\u2019s always hard to let go of that. It is tough. I wasn\u2019t ready. I\u2019m still not ready.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tChris Sheridan explains to THR<\/em> that he had seen \u201cthe writing on the wall\u201d ahead of working on season four regarding this likely being the series\u2019 final run.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWhen myself and the rest of the writers were arcing out the season, we had that in mind,\u201d he says. \u201cWe wanted to give the show an ending. So coming into the season, I told the actors, \u2018I think this is probably the last season, so let\u2019s app<\/a>reciate it.’\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tSheridan reveals that the team experienced \u201cspecial, sad days\u201d while making season four with the assumption that the show would be saying goodbye. \u201cTo see that possibly go away, to feel that was difficult,\u201d he adds. \u201cBut also, it was way better than being at home after the season and getting a call, and that stuff you love is gone. We were able to grieve with each other for a year and live through it.\u201d<\/p>\n
