Contraband<\/em>, the open-world \u201ccooperative smuggler\u2019s paradise\u201d game<\/a> developed by Just Cause<\/em> creator Avalanche Studios announced in 2021, is no longer in active development, Avalanche Studios announced following reports by Bloomberg\u2019s Jason Schreier<\/a> and Game File<\/a>. <\/p>\n

\u201cOver the past several years, Avalanche Studios Group and Xbox Game Studios Publishing have collaborated on Contraband,\u201d reads an update<\/a> on the Avalanche Studios Group website. \u201cActive development has now stopped while we evaluate the project\u2019s future. We\u2019re thankful for the excitement we\u2019ve seen from the community since we announced and will give an update on what\u2019s next as soon as we can.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to Game File, production of the game had been ongoing for five years.<\/p>\n

While not specifically related to Contraband<\/em>, Kojima Productions\u2018 OD<\/em>\u2014also a Microsoft collaboration\u2014is still in development, according to Schreier<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
