\u201cphilosophy\u201d on making music. \u201cI&#8217;m not much of a refiner,\u201d he said. \u201cI don&#8217;t believe in it. I think that it&#8217;s just not my thing and it&#8217;s not my specialty.\u201d What might sound a little self-deprecating is, in fact, an apt de<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">script<\/a>ion of the raw and im<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">media<\/a>te sound that has become his signature. Part Prince-style R&amp;B idol, part homespun indie folk songwriter, Dijon favors rough edges over smooth surfaces in his music. This abrasiveness isn\u2019t designed to push listeners away, but rather act as an edge to grab on to and make a home on.\n          <\/p>\n<div class=\"\" style=\"padding-bottom: 20px; margin-top: 20px; text-align: left;\">\n<\/div>\n<p>\n            As he releases his second studio album, <i>Baby<\/i>, Dijon\u2019s influence continues to grow. In 2025, he played a pivotal role in two major records, Bon Iver\u2019s <i>Sable, Fable<\/i>, and Justin Bieber\u2019s <i>SWAG<\/i>. And alongside his regular collaborator Mk.Gee, he\u2019s carving a niche that is impacting both the mainstream and underground in equal measure. The duo began releasing music together around 2013 under the moniker Abhi\/\/Dijon while Dijon was studying literature at University of Maryland. The music would be a rough prototype of the sound Dijon would end up honing in the coming years: slick, emotional R&amp;B, with a sturdy, soulful core. margin-top: 20px; text-align: left;\">\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<style>\n<\/style>\n<div id=\"content_block-273287\" class=\"content_block paragraph text triple_gutter_right triple_gutter_left center_align\">\n<div class=\"content_inner_wrapper\">\n<h5 class=\"headline\" style=\"margin-bottom: 30px;\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_solo_era_begins\"><\/span>\n        <b>The solo era begins<\/b><br \/>\n      <span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h5>\n<div class=\"paragraph_wrapper center_align\">\n<p>\n            Starting in 2017, Dijon kicked off his solo era with a string of loosies like \u201cStranger\u201d and \u201cSkin.\u201d While they leaned R&amp;B, his tinkering eventually began pulling him toward more folkier, earth-trodden sounds that still bumped up against his Black music influences. \u201c[I\u2019m] fascinated [with] really unironically and genuinely appropriating these symbols, ideas, and mythologies that aren\u2019t necessarily associated with minority music,\u201d Dijon told <i>The FADER<\/i> in 2017 about being a person of color making Americana-influenced music and the kind of cultural dissonance he was grappling with.\n          <\/p>\n<p>\n            It became a blossoming creative period for Dijon who, off the back of well-received singles like \u201cNico\u2019s Red Truck,\u201d and two EPs, 2019\u2019s <i>Sci Fi 1<\/i> and 2020\u2019s <i>How Do You Feel About Getting Married?<\/i>, began rising in the Los Angeles music scene, collaborating with Brockhampton on <i>Saturation II<\/i>, and writing for Charli xcx\u2019s \u201cpink diamond\u201d on her 2020 lockdown record, <i>how i\u2019m feeling now<\/i>. \u2014<i>SW<\/i>\n          <\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"content_block paragraph triple_gutter_right triple_gutter_left\">\n<div class=\"content_inner_wrapper\">\n<div class=\"\" style=\"padding-bottom: 20px; A video released around that time, with Dijon, guitarist Mk.gee, and other friends jamming around a cluttered dining table, was an attempt at capturing both the look and the vibe of those sessions. But despite the spontaneous feel, Dijon told The FADER that the record\u2019s songwriting process was actually the opposite. \u201cI don&#8217;t do demos or anything like that,\u201d he said. \u201cI just sit there and I just think about music for as long as I possibly can. So the [<i>Absolutely<\/i>] writing process, if you can call it that, internally was pretty long. I&#8217;d say it&#8217;s over two years. But the actual recording of it was instant. His most high-profile work came earlier this year when he appeared across Justin Bieber\u2019s latest album, <i>SWAG<\/i>. In advance of its release much had been made of Mk.Gee\u2019s input on <i>SWAG<\/i> but it is Dijon that feels like a guiding hand on Bieber\u2019s most unencumbered album, contributing to songs including \u201cDaisies\u201d and \u201cYukon,\u201d as well as providing vocals on \u201cDevotion.\u201d\n          <\/p>\n<div class=\"\" style=\"padding-bottom: 20px; margin-top: 20px; text-align: left;\">\n<\/div>\n<p>\n            Any conversation about Dijon inevitably leads to his most regular collaborator, Mk.Gee. The duo first began working together when Mk.gee contributed to <i>Absolutely<\/i> and joined Dijon on tour. He then helped produce Mk.gee\u2019s 2024 full-length debut, <i>Two Star &amp; the Dream Police<\/i>, including album opener \u201cNew Low\u201d and \u201cDNM.\u201d\n          <\/p>\n<p>\n            Speaking about Mk.Gee in a <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_new\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2024\/09\/04\/arts\/music\/mkgee-two-star-the-dream-police.html\"><i>New York Times<\/i> profile<\/a> of the guitarist, Dijon said \u201cI think we both shared a frustration with the lack of anger that people had at the state of young people making music.\u201d He went on to state his belief that they are \u201cboth trying to just find a new wheel to invent, separately, and kind of questioning why nobody else was as feverishly, or embarrassingly, reaching.\u201d\n          <\/p>\n<p>\n            Earlier in 2025 Dijon made a cameo on Bon Iver\u2019s <i>SABLE fABLE<\/i>, popping up on \u201cDay One.\u201d The collaboration came about after Dijon (alongside Mk.Gee) toured with Bon Iver and, <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_new\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@boniverhq\/video\/7487026071603301678\">according to Justin Vernon<\/a>, \u201creignited\u201d something in him creatively.\n          <\/p>\n<div class=\"\" style=\"padding-bottom: 20px; margin-top: 20px; text-align: left;\">\n<\/div>\n<p>\n            As for other collaborations, Dijon&#8217;s name has showed on credits on songs by Charli xcx, John C.
