And it\u2019s not looking good for the next\u2026<\/p>\n<p><strong>Erik<\/strong> and<strong> Lyle Menendez<\/strong> were sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for the murder of their parents, <strong>Jose<\/strong> and <strong>Kitty Menendez<\/strong>, in 1989. The Menendez brothers infamously argued the murders were in self-defense because they suffered years of sexual abuse at the hands of their father, which they claimed their mother ignored. But a judge back then deemed the allegations inadmissible. In any case, it was a different time \u2014 so who knows if it would have helped?<\/p>\n<div class=\"clear\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"min-height:120px;width:100%;float:none;\" class=\"lazy-ad-parent\">\n<div id=\"section-68a9160abcc6b-paragraph-slot\" class=\"lazyload-unit\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>After more than three decades behind bars, though, they got a chance to go free. A judge reduced both Erik and Lyle\u2019s sentences to 50 years to life back in May, making them eligible for parole im<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">media<\/a>tely \u2014 since they were under 26 when they committed the crime. They were just 18 and 21 at the time. Kids.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Related: \u2018Killer Dad\u2019 Update \u2014 Travis Decker\u2019s Disturbing DNA Evidence Revealed\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>But unfortunately for Erik, his dream of walking free was squashed on Thursday. He was denied parole. <em>The New York Times<\/em> reported that Parole Commissioner <strong>Robert Barton<\/strong> argued that Erik was not a \u201cmodel prisoner,\u201d as he had several infractions while behind bars. The violations included drug and cellphone use, as well as involvement in a tax fraud scheme.<\/p>\n<div class=\"clear\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"min-height:120px;width:100%;float:none;\" class=\"lazy-ad-parent\">\n<div id=\"section-68a9160abcc72-paragraph-slot\" class=\"lazyload-unit\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Barton also said that Erik was not in \u201cimminent fear\u201d for his life before the killings \u2014 despite the brothers\u2019 previous claims. He claimed the murders were \u201cdevoid of human compassion,\u201d adding:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cThe killing of your mother especially showed a lack of empathy and reason.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>That\u2019s why Erik\u2019s parole was denied. As for Lyle?<\/p>\n<div class=\"clear\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"min-height:120px;width:100%;float:none;\" class=\"lazy-ad-parent\">\n<div id=\"section-68a9160abcc75-paragraph-slot\" class=\"lazyload-unit\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Well, unfortunately he wasn\u2019t a model prisoner either. Relatively early on, in 1996, Lyle violated direct orders from prison a guard, according to Los Angeles County District Attorney\u2019s Office records, refusing to leave his cell.<\/p>\n<p>On three separate occasions \u2014 in 2001, 2003, and 2008 \u2014 he was reprimanded for engaging in \u201cexcessive physical contact\u201d with a female visitor. This is assumed to <strong>Rebecca Sneed<\/strong>, to whom he was married in 2003, while behind bars.<\/p>\n<p>And multiple times Lyle <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>arently tried to get women to sneak in better shoes for him, including at least once in a sneaky shoe swap during a visit.<\/p>\n<div class=\"clear\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"min-height:120px;width:100%;float:none;\" class=\"lazy-ad-parent\">\n<div id=\"section-68a9160abcc79-paragraph-slot\" class=\"lazyload-unit\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>These aren\u2019t exactly horrible crimes, but if they\u2019re going to use rule violations to stop Erik\u2019s parole, there\u2019s ammo against Lyle, too. As of this writing, the decision has not been made\u2026 but we don\u2019t think it\u2019s going to go well\u2026<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Response_From_The_Family\"><\/span>Response From The Family<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Following the hearings, Erik\u2019s family isn\u2019t happy. His wife, <strong>Tammi<\/strong>, called the hearing on <strong>X (Twitter)<\/strong> \u201ca complete setup,\u201d writing:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cParole Commissioner Robert Barton had his mind made up to deny Erik parole from the start. This was a complete setup, and Erik never stood a chance!\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<div class=\"clear\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"min-height:120px;width:100%;float:none;\" class=\"lazy-ad-parent\">\n<div id=\"section-68a9160abcc7d-paragraph-slot\" class=\"lazyload-unit\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Yikes. She added in a follow-up post:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cErik hasn\u2019t had any infractions since 2011, apart from a cell phone possession. To the media reporting otherwise: please get the facts straight! #erikmenendez.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>His adopted daughter, <strong>Talia<\/strong>, reacted to the <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news<\/a> on <strong>Instagram Stories<\/strong>, and she, too, is very upset! She said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<div class=\"clear\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"min-height:120px;width:100%;float:none;\" class=\"lazy-ad-parent\">\n<div id=\"section-68a9160abcc81-paragraph-slot\" class=\"lazyload-unit\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cHow is my dad a threat to society! A 3-year denial??? Hell is about to break loose!!!\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Talia went on to call out all the celebrities who previously advocated for the release of Erik and Lyle (like <strong>Kim Kardashian<\/strong>) but haven\u2019t said a single word about the verdicts:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cWhere are the celebrities that were \u2018advocating\u2019 for them???? It\u2019s been WAY TOO QUIET.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<div class=\"clear\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"min-height:120px;width:100%;float:none;\" class=\"lazy-ad-parent\">\n<div id=\"section-68a9160abcc84-paragraph-slot\" class=\"lazyload-unit\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>She claimed one of the only people who remained in touch with the family amid the parole hearings has been <strong>Cooper Koch<\/strong>, the actor who played Erik in <em>Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story<\/em>:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cThe only one that I can say has been checking in on my family is Cooper and we absolutely adore him. To the ones that went to the prison without any background checks to film their show but are staying quiet now.
