\n\tIt\u2019s one and done for The Waterfront<\/em>, with The Hollywood Reporter <\/em>confirming that Netflix has quickly canceled the crime drama after one season. <\/p>\n

\n\tThe show, created by Scream<\/em> and Dawson\u2019s Creek <\/em>mastermind Kevin Williamson, only debuted all eight of its episodes on Netflix on June 19, but seemingly failed to find the audience to justify a renewal. <\/p>\n

\n\tThe Waterfront<\/em> told the story of the Buckleys, a North Carolina family that turns to crime to save their fishery. The show starred Holt McCallany, Maria Bello, Melissa Benoist, Jake Weary, Rafael L. Silva, Humberly Gonzalez, Danielle Campbell, Brady Hepner and Topher Grace. <\/p>\n

\n\tThe Waterfront <\/em>had earned comparisons with other popular Netflix family crime dramas Ozark<\/em> and Bloodline<\/em>, however, its scores on Rotten Tomatoes were good but not great, with a critics\u2019 score of 68 percent and an audience score of 66 percent. THR<\/em>\u2018s review of the show was also mixed, despite singling out Grace\u2019s performance, the reviewer felt that, \u201cHaving a solidly above-average cast and occasional bursts of cartoonish violence isn\u2019t enough if the characters are thin and the drama and settings are wholly artificial.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tIn an interview with THR<\/em>, Williamson had talked about the possibilities of a second season for The Waterfront<\/em>. \u201c[For a season two], we have the Parker family that will come into play. They have such a backstory with the Buckleys already,\u201d Williamson said. \u201cThe Parker family would become season two\u2019s big conflict. We\u2019ve only met Emmett [Terry Serpico] and his father. There are more Parker family members and they will prove to be equally as complicated as the Buckleys \u2014 and more dangerous than Grady could ever be.\u201d <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n
