Travis Kelce<\/strong> popped the question to\u00a0Taylor Swift<\/strong> WEEKS ago, the pro athlete\u2019s dad Ed Kelce<\/strong>\u00a0now confirms!<\/p>\n

On Tuesday, hours after the\u00a0Kansas City Chiefs<\/strong> tight end and the\u00a0Shake It Off<\/em> crooner revealed on Instagram<\/strong> that they are now engaged (!!!), the\u00a0NFL<\/strong> star\u2019s father popped up in a new interview with a Cleveland, Ohio news<\/a> outlet relaying all he knows about the backstory behind it!<\/p>\n

Speaking to\u00a0News Channel 5<\/em> reporter\u00a0John Kosich<\/strong> straight outta the Kelce fam\u2019s hometown of Cleveland, Ed revealed Travis proposed to Taylor about \u2014 but not quite<\/em> \u2014 two weeks ago. Ed said:<\/p>\n

\u201cTravis actually did the proposal, oh, maybe two weeks, not quite two weeks ago.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Not quite<\/em> two weeks ago, huh?! You know what\u00a0else<\/em> happ<\/a>ened \u201cnot quite two weeks ago\u201d?? Yep! Taylor\u2019s awesome appearance on Travis and bro\u00a0Jason Kelce<\/strong>\u2018s Ne<\/em>w Heights<\/em> podcast! Remember that little factoid, because we are gonna come back to it.<\/p>\n

Anyways, Ed went on to recount some of the details about how Travis had been \u201ca little antsy\u201d about doing it before he actually dropped down on one knee and took his shot:<\/p>\n

\u201cHe was going to put it off \u2019til this week. I think she was getting maybe a little antsy, but he was going to put her off \u2019til this week, to, you know, make some grand thing, to make it a big special event. And I told him repeatedly, you know, you could do it on the side of the road, do it any place that makes it a special event \u2026 when you get down on one knee and ask her to marry you.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Interestingly enough, Ed also said Taylor\u2019s dad\u00a0Scott Swift<\/strong> was telling Travis the same thing! So, the old guys were giving good advice to the young whipper-snapper! LOLz!<\/p>\n

From there, Ed said the garden where Travis popped the question is a special spot in Lee\u2019s Summit, Missouri outside of Kansas City. The couple had been about to go to dinner when the football star nudged his soon-to-be-fianc\u00e9e and said they should have a drink in the garden first:<\/p>\n

\u201cHe got her out there, they were about to go out to dinner, and he said, \u2018let\u2019s go out and have a glass of wine,\u2019 \u2026 they got out there, and that\u2019s when he asked her, and it was beautiful. They started FaceTiming me and their mother and her folks to make sure everybody knew. So, to see them together is great.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

And even though Ed knew that the the proposal was going to happen beforehand, he still officially found out after the fact like everybody else in the couple\u2019s inner circle. In fact, Ed said he was at a Philadelphia Eagles<\/strong> practice at the time when he got a FaceTime call from the duo:<\/p>\n

\u201cI was at \u2026 an Eagles practice, a public practice that they had a lot of people that, well, the Eagles had 60,000 people at a public practice two weeks ago on a Sunday night. So, at that practice \u2026 I got a FaceTime call from them, and as soon as I saw the FaceTime, I saw it was Travis, and then I saw Taylor there with him, I knew what they were going to say, and they let us know.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

And from there, it\u2019s been all happiness! Ed recounted the fam\u2019s trip<\/a> to KC this past weekend for the airing of the\u00a0ESPN<\/strong> doc\u00a0The Kingdom<\/em>, and noted how happy the couple was then:<\/p>\n

\u201cWe actually went to a thing in KC Sunday night, which was an ESPN airing of The Kingdom<\/em> and went to that, and his mother and I went with him back to his house for dinner, where Taylor made dinner, and we had a wonderful dinner with them outside on the patio and to just watch the two of them, just crazy about each other. It\u2019s truly kinda neat.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

And Ed summed the whole interview up in the most perfect and heartwarming way:<\/p>\n
