“#Quarantined University of Michigan student rips school\u2019s protocol<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

\n University of Michigan students say the school\u2019s testing and quarantine protocols are seriously lacking \u2014 and they\u2019re taking to TikTok to prove it.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m making a video to share with you what it\u2019s like up here,\u201d junior Sam Burnstein, 20, says in a video<\/a> he filmed after testing positive for COVID-19 and moving into one of the empty apartments the university has designated for those who contract the coronavirus. \u201cWe were given almost no supplies. We were given no food, no masks, no gloves, no microwave, no bed sheets, no soap, no cleaning supplies, nothing \u2014 except we were given one roll of toilet paper, single-ply. Oh, and did I mention there\u2019s a roach infestation as well?\u201d<\/p>\n

He concludes the video by challenging the university\u2019s president to spend a single night in one of the apartments and \u201clet us know what you think.\u201d<\/p>\n

Throughout the ordeal, he says in the video, the students of the Graduate Employees\u2019 Organization have been \u201csaviors\u201d for those in the university\u2019s quarantine, as they\u2019ve been donating their leftover food and supplies for the past few days.<\/p>\n

The organization has also been striking since Sept. 8 in the name of the school \u201cfailing to keep students safe from COVID,\u201d says Burnstein.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re striking over the university\u2019s totally inadequate reopening plans and just the series<\/a> of policies they put in place over the summer that\u2019s making students and workers on campus unsafe,\u201d GEO Secretary Amir Fleischmann told the Michigan Daily<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Burnstein is not the only student who has gone public with his complaints.<\/p>\n

\u201cIs anyone else who goes to the University of Michigan just like what the f\u2013k is happ<\/a>ening right now and, like, terrified of like what\u2019s going to happen?\u201d says another University of Michigan student named Ruby in one of many videos<\/a> documenting the goings-on at the school.<\/p>\n

The University did not immedia<\/a>tely respond to The Post\u2019s request for comment but told Insider<\/a> that students aren\u2019t required to use the school\u2019s housing to quarantine \u2014 although Burnstein told the outlet that this was not made clear to him \u2014 and that it hasn\u2019t received any complaints about roaches or other pests.<\/p>\n

\u201cEach single-occupancy apartment includes a furnished bedroom, including sheets, blankets and pillowcases. Each kitchen has a refrigerator and oven. Microwaves are being procured for each apartment,\u201d the University of Michigan spokesperson told Insider in a statement.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
