\n\tGraham Greene, the Oscar-nominated actor from Dances With Wolves<\/em>, died Monday after a lengthy illness in Stratford, Ontario, his rep told The Hollywood Reporter.<\/em> He was 73.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cHe was a great man of morals, ethics and character and will be eternally missed,\u201d Greene\u2019s agent Michael Greene said in a statement to THR<\/em>. \u201cYou are finally free. Susan Smith is meeting you at the gates of heaven,\u201d referring to the actor\u2019s longtime agent, who died in 2013.<\/p>\n

\n\tBorn on June 22, 1952, in Ohsweken on the Six Nations Reserve and a graduate of the Centre for Indigenous Theatre Program in 1974, the Canadian actor made his small-screen debut on the 1979 Canadian drama series<\/a> The Great Detective <\/em>and film debut in Running Brave <\/em>(1983).<\/p>\n

\n\tHowever it was his role as Kicking Bird in the 1990 film Dances With Wolves<\/em> that earned him a best supporting actor Oscar nomination. Out of its 12 nominations, Dances with Wolves<\/em> won seven, including one for best picture.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe film launched Graham\u2019s career to new heights; he had performances in more than 200 film and television productions and starring roles at the Stratford Festival.<\/p>\n

\n\tHis other best-known films included Maverick<\/em>\u00a0(1994), Die Hard With a Vengeance<\/em>\u00a0(1995),\u00a0The Green Mile<\/em>\u00a0(1999), The Twilight Saga: New Moon\u00a0<\/em>(2009) and Aaron Sorkin\u2019s\u00a0Molly\u2019s Game<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>(2017).<\/p>\n

\n\tHe also starred in Thunderheart<\/em>\u00a0(1992) opposite Val Kilmer,\u00a0Transamerica<\/em>\u00a0(2005),\u00a0Wind River<\/em>\u00a0(2017) and on the FX series Reservation Dogs<\/em>. <\/p>\n

\n\tMost recently, Greene starred in the Tyler Sheridan series\u00a01883<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0Tulsa King.<\/em><\/p>\n

\n\tThroughout his career, Greene received numerous accolades including several Gemini\u2019s, a Grammy and was the recipient of the Earle Grey Lifetime Achievement Award. He was bestowed an honorary doctor of law degree in June 2008 from Sir Wilfred Laurier University in Waterloo, Ontario which was near the Oneida Reserve where he is from.<\/p>\n

\n\tGreene was also the recipient of the Order of Canada and the Governor General<\/a>\u2019s Award.<\/p>\n

\n\tHe is survived by his wife Hilary Blackmore; daughter Lilly Lazare-Greene; and grandson Tarlo. Details regarding a remembrance\u00a0celebration are expected to be shared in the coming days.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
