2Pac‘s murder suspect, Keefe D, has been sentenced for his role in a jailhouse fight.<\/p>\n
The gang member, who denies being involved in the killing of 2Pac, has been handed a prison sentence over the brawl.<\/p>\n
Keefe D was sentenced to between 16 and 40 months behind bars over the fight which occurred while he was awaiting trial for the murder of the rap legend.<\/p>\n
During the trial, Keefe D had said that he had done nothing wrong: \u201cI was attacked. It was wrong, I know not to fight in the jail. The guy attacked me.\u201d<\/p>\n
He also told the court: \u201cMy parents brought me up to protect myself, and that\u2019s all I was doing, protecting myself, and this is totally wrong, man.\u201d<\/p>\n
As Keefe D will remain in jail until the 2Pac trial, it is likely he will serve the majority of his sentence while being held without bail with proceedings not scheduled to start until February.<\/p>\n
Keefe D has repeatedly attempted to get the charges against him for killing 2Pac dropped.<\/p>\n
In a recent motion to dismiss the case, Keefe D argues there is a lack of evidence against him.<\/p>\n
The filing states: \u201cThis prosecution has captured worldwide attention. The global public is watching how Nevada upholds due process, fairness, and the rule of law in one of the most closely scrutinized criminal proceedings in recent memory.\u201d<\/p>\n
It adds: \u201cNevada law is unambiguous: a conviction cannot rest solely on an uncorroborated extrajudicial statement. The State has offered nothing to corroborate the trustworthiness of Mr. Davis\u2019s alleged statements, and nothing independently connecting him to the murder itself.\u201d<\/p>\n
In his first interview since his arrest last year, Keefe D denied killing 2Pac.<\/p>\n
\u201cI did not do it,\u201d he said, before downplaying prosecutors\u2019 case against him. \u201cThey don\u2019t have nothing. And they know they don\u2019t have nothing. They can\u2019t even place me out here. They don\u2019t have no gun, no car, no Keefe D, no nothing.\u201d<\/p>\n
