\n\tThe cast of The Office<\/em> spinoff, The Paper,<\/em> is making news<\/a>papers cool again \u2014 but it\u2019s not like they ever weren\u2019t. <\/p>\n

\n\tOn Tuesday morning, in New York City, right outside of 30 Rock, The Paper<\/em>\u2018s castmembers Oscar Nu\u00f1ez, Alex Edelman, Gbemisola Ikumelo and Ramona Young hosted a pop-up event to celebrate their new show, which debuted on Peacock Sept. 4.<\/p>\n

\n\tThey were all handing out bagels from PopUp Bagels to attendees and posed with newspapers \u201chot off the press\u201d from the\u00a0Toledo Truth-Teller<\/em> inspired by the show. There was also a pop-up held in Flatiron, but the cast was at the 30 Rock location.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Paper<\/em> is a sequel to NBC\u2019s The Office, <\/em>which starred Steve Carell, John Krasinski, Jenna Fischer and Oscar Nu\u00f1ez, among others. It\u2019s also set in the same universe as the original sitcom and follows the struggling Midwestern newspaper.<\/p>\n

\n\tMichael Koman, who co-created the show with Greg Daniels, told The Hollywood Reporter <\/em>at the premiere in August about how they decided on the concept. \u201cGreg originally ran the idea past me about creating a documentary-style show at a newspaper, specifically a newspaper that was having a difficult time and somebody comes in and is trying to put it back on its feet. I just responded to that idea and really liked it, and said yes. Then he ran the idea past me that it was connected to\u00a0The Office<\/em>,\u201d Koman said. \u201cI also really liked the idea that this documentary exists \u2014 the original\u00a0Office<\/em>\u00a0documentary exists in our world so our characters would know what it looks like to be filmed at work over a period of years. It doesn\u2019t play a big part, but I like the reality of that because I feel like that\u2019s how real life works.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tDomhnall Gleeson leads the spinoff, and Nu\u00f1ez is the only castmember from the original show to come back. Nu\u00f1ez previously told THR<\/em> that his return to that world was a \u201cslow process\u201d and joked that he doesn\u2019t think his former castmates envy his new gig too much. \u201cThey\u2019re doing OK, no one\u2019s starving. I think they\u2019re happ<\/a>y for me,\u201d Nu\u00f1ez said.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Paper <\/em>is currently streaming all 10 episodes on Peacock and has already been renewed for a second season. <\/p>\n
