{"id":68981,"date":"2020-09-14T22:21:17","date_gmt":"2020-09-14T19:21:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.buradabiliyorum.com\/planets-made-of-diamonds-are-unlike-anything-in-our-solar-system-study\/"},"modified":"2020-09-14T22:21:17","modified_gmt":"2020-09-14T19:21:17","slug":"planets-made-of-diamonds-are-unlike-anything-in-our-solar-system-study","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/planets-made-of-diamonds-are-unlike-anything-in-our-solar-system-study\/","title":{"rendered":"#Planets made of diamonds are &#8216;unlike anything in our solar system&#8217;: study"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;<strong>#Planets made of diamonds are &#8216;unlike anything in our solar system&#8217;: study<\/strong>&#8221;<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/09\/diamond-exoplanet-53.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all\" \/><\/p>\n<div>\n                        For some planets, diamonds aren\u2019t a rarity \u2014 they\u2019re the foundation of existence.<\/p>\n<p>New research published late last month in <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/iopscience.iop.org\/article\/10.3847\/PSJ\/abaa3e\">the Planetary Science Journal<\/a> has found that exoplanets with the right ratio of carbon and oxygen would be made primarily of diamonds and the natural compound silica.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese exoplanets are unlike anything in our solar system,\u201d lead author Harrison Allen-Sutter of Arizona State University\u2019s School of Earth and Space Exploration said in a <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.eurekalert.org\/pub_releases\/2020-09\/asu-cem091120.php\">press release<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The discovery comes as scientists, enabled by more and more information from recent space missions, are able to put together the pieces and understand what planets far beyond our Earth look like.<\/p>\n<p>While Earth\u2019s diamond content is <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>roximately 0.0001%, researchers now believe that exoplanets that surround stars with a higher carbon-to-oxygen ratio are likely more carbon-rich and, assuming the presence of water, may have an extremely diamond-heavy makeup.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/sciencee\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"5\" title=\"Science\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">science<\/a> behind this hypothesis is extremely nuanced, but researchers were able to test their theory here by monitoring what happens while silicon carbide and water is sandwiched between diamonds at very high pressure.
