Nick Cannon<\/strong> is opening up about his decision(s) to have 12 kids \u2014 and he\u2019s citing \u201ctrauma\u201d as the surprising reason why he thinks he took fatherhood that far!<\/p>\n

On Monday, the Masked Singer<\/em> host was the guest on the uber-popular morning radio show The Breakfast Club<\/em>. During his chat with\u00a0Charlemagne tha God<\/strong> on the show, the 44-year-old admitted that the reason he\u2019s got a wild and chaotic dozen of kids at home is because he didn\u2019t deal with his post-divorce \u201ctrauma\u201d in the best of ways after splitting from\u00a0Mariah Carey<\/strong>. Yes, really!<\/p>\n

Of course, the\u00a0Wild\u2019N Out<\/em> star is the father to a whole bunch of little ones. That list includes Moroccan\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Monroe<\/strong> with his superstar crooner ex-wife. It also includes sons Golden Sagon<\/strong> and Rise Messiah<\/strong>, as well as daughter Powerful Queen<\/strong> with Brittany Bell<\/strong>. Plus, he has twins Zion Mixolydian<\/strong> and Zillion Heir<\/strong>, as well as daughter Beautiful Zeppelin<\/strong> with Abby De La Rosa<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

And that\u2019s not all! Not by a long shot! He\u2019s also got Legendary Love<\/strong> with Bre Tiesi<\/strong>, as well as daughter Onyx Ice Cole<\/strong> with LaNisha Cole<\/strong>. And<\/em> he is the father of two kids with Alyssa Scott<\/strong>, too: son Zen<\/strong>, who died at just five months old at the very end of 2021 after a battle with brain cancer, and daughter Halo Marie<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

So, it\u2019s a lot! And Nick has thoughts about how he got here! Saying that welcoming children in the way he did was a response to trauma but\u00a0not<\/em> a frivolous move, the multi-talented entertainer explained:<\/p>\n

\u201cIt wasn\u2019t like I was acting out. It was more of being careless, being frivolous with my process because I could do it, because I had the money [and] because I had the access to whoever and however I wanted to move. Then, obviously, life happ<\/a>ens as well, so it wasn\u2019t like \u2018Oh, I\u2019m gonna go have 12 kids.\u2019 It was more about like, \u2018Yo, I\u2019m gonna just live life and have fun and whatever happens happens. I can handle it.’\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

It also sounds like he\u2019s got some regrets! Not with the children themselves, of course. But with how the whole process played out over the long run. He explained:<\/p>\n

\u201cBeing almost 45 now, I could sit back and like, yeah, if I would have thought the process through a little bit more and took time to actually do the inner work, things might have been a little different in certain scenarios.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Charlemagne astutely asked whether Nick doing any \u201cinner work\u201d would have changed the end result. And to that, the Drumline<\/em> star replied that all his kids were \u201cmade out of love\u201d and came from strong relationships regardless:<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t know \u2026 because I\u2019ve always said this, every child that I had was made out of love and there were strong relationships. If I would have did the work [and] the healing after getting divorced, I probably would have took my time in a lot other scenarios and for whatever reason I thought that was the answer a lot of times, like \u2018Oh, I\u2019m gonna figure it out over here.\u2019 Now, you\u2019re leaving trauma every step of the way instead of fixing it from its origin.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
