Even a simple robot\u00a0can easily\u00a0produce up to a terabyte of data per day,\u00a0since \u00a0they continuously capture data from cameras and sensors.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sydney, Australia-based\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.usealloy.ai\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Alloy<\/a>\u00a0thinks it can help with that issue: the startup\u00a0is\u00a0building data\u00a0infrastructure\u00a0for robotics companies to help them process and organize\u00a0all the data their robots collect from\u00a0various sources, including sensors and\u00a0cameras.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At its core, Alloy\u00a0encodes and labels\u00a0the data it collects,\u00a0and\u00a0allows users to search through their data using natural language to find bugs and errors.\u00a0Users can also\u00a0set up rules to catch\u00a0and flag\u00a0issues in the future, similar to\u00a0how observability tools flag errors in software code.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe current pattern is, you look for some kind of anomaly, and then you\u2019ll replay the data,\u201d Joe Harris, the founder and CEO of Alloy,\u00a0told TechCrunch. \u201cThey then are spending hours scrubbing through this data, looking for these issues that have been flagged to them, trying to diagnose from that [while] not really having a good view as to whether this has h<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ened before, if it\u2019s\u00a0a high-severity issue or this one-off,\u00a0edge case.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Considering how much data\u00a0a single robot produces, as robotics companies look to scale,\u00a0this data problem will continue to compound, Harris added.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Harris\u00a0has been\u00a0fascinated by\u00a0robotics\u00a0since he was a kid.\u00a0But when he graduated from college\u00a0in 2018, there weren\u2019t\u00a0many opportunities to work in the field, so\u00a0he instead worked multiple roles across\u00a0Australian\u00a0tech companies including Atlassian and\u00a0telehealth startup\u00a0Eucalyptus.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 2024,\u00a0he decided\u00a0the time was right\u00a0to launch a robotics company of his own. He\u00a0originally thought he\u2019d focus on\u00a0building robots for the agriculture industry\u00a0due to\u00a0an\u00a0interest\u00a0in\u00a0vertical farming, but when he started talking to other founders,\u00a0the issue of managing the data robots produce kept coming up.\u00a0He\u00a0figured he might as well solve that\u00a0problem\u00a0first.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-techcrunch-inline-cta\">\n<div class=\"inline-cta__wrapper\">\n<p>Techcrunch event<\/p>\n<div class=\"inline-cta__content\">\n<p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"inline-cta__location\">San Francisco<\/span><br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"inline-cta__separator\">|<\/span><br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"inline-cta__date\">October 27-29, 2025<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIf I need to solve this problem for myself and my robotics company, I will have a great horizontal solution,\u201d Harris said. \u201cPerhaps that\u00a0would be a more important\u00a0near-term\u00a0mission \u2014 to help enable other robotics companies to spend less time on data plumbing and more time on getting to that high reliability.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Since its launch in\u00a0February 2025,\u00a0Alloy has signed four\u00a0Australian\u00a0robotics companies as\u00a0design partners\u00a0and looks to push into the U.S. market this year.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe customers that we found have been most excited about this because they\u2019ve gone through the pain of building and maintaining it themselves,\u201d Harris said. \u201cThey\u2019d much rather have a fantastic tool, like a Databricks just specifically built for robotics.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Alloy has also raised a little more than AUD $4.5 million\u00a0(about $3 million USD)\u00a0in\u00a0a pre-seed round that was led by Blackbird Ventures, with participation from\u00a0Airtree\u00a0Ventures, Xtal Ventures and Skip Capital, in addition to angel investors from robotics companies.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The company\u00a0doesn\u2019t\u00a0have too many\u00a0direct\u00a0competitors yet. Many robotics companies are either retrofitting existing data management tools that\u00a0aren\u2019t\u00a0designed for the multimodal data robots produce,\u00a0or are attempting to build their own internal data management tools.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As commercial use cases for robotics continue\u00a0to increase, Alloy hopes it will be able to capture a good share of the\u00a0growing market.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIt\u2019s never been a better time to build a robotics company,\u201d Harris said. \u201cI really want to make it possible for the next\u00a010,000,\u00a0100,000 robotics companies that\u00a0don\u2019t\u00a0yet exist, that inevitably will\u00a0not have to necessarily reinvent the wheel, like every company has.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
