{"id":69177,"date":"2020-09-14T18:12:34","date_gmt":"2020-09-14T15:12:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.buradabiliyorum.com\/scientists-confounded-by-new-findings-on-universes-mysterious-dark-matter-2\/"},"modified":"2020-09-14T18:12:34","modified_gmt":"2020-09-14T15:12:34","slug":"scientists-confounded-by-new-findings-on-universes-mysterious-dark-matter-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/scientists-confounded-by-new-findings-on-universes-mysterious-dark-matter-2\/","title":{"rendered":"#Scientists confounded by new findings on universe&#8217;s mysterious dark matter"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;<strong>#Scientists confounded by new findings on universe&#8217;s mysterious dark matter<\/strong>&#8221;<\/p>\n<div>\n                        WASHINGTON \u2013 Dark matter, mysterious invisible stuff that makes up most of the mass of galaxies including our own Milky Way, is confounding scientists again, with new observations of distant galaxies conflicting with the current understanding of its nature.<\/p>\n<p>Research published this week revealed an unexpected discrepancy between observations of dark matter concentrations in three massive clusters of galaxies encompassing trillions of stars and theoretical computer simulations of how dark matter should be distributed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEither there is a missing ingredient in the simulations or we have made a fundamental incorrect assumption about the nature of dark matter,\u201d Yale University astrophysicist Priyamvada Natarajan, a co-author of the study published in the journal <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/sciencee\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"5\" title=\"Science\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Science<\/a>, said on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Dark matter is the invisible glue that holds stars together inside a galaxy. It also creates an invisible scaffold that enables galaxies to form clusters. But it has very peculiar properties. It differs from the similarly enigmatic and unseen dark energy, which is considered a property of space and is driving the universe\u2019s accelerated expansion. Dark energy is repulsive.
