The upcoming original mermaid-in-modern-times original TV anime<\/a> Goodbye, Lara<\/em> has received some updates, including new visuals \u2014 one main visual and two character ones \u2014 and an announcement trailer for the character Mari Otsu.<\/span><\/p>\n

Mari is a high school boxer who lost her mother at a young age, and the kind of girl who runs with a slice of bread in her mouth (see the main visual below). Living with her grandmother, father, and older brother, she becomes housemates with the titular mermaid Lara after encountering her. The Mari trailer teases a little of what that cohabitation life looks like.<\/span><\/p>\n

Goodbye, Lara\u00a0<\/em>is set to surface in 2026. The premise sees Lara app<\/a>earing in Shiga Prefecture\u2019s Lake Biwa 200 years after being reduced to bubbles by a witch\u2019s potion. In the past, Lara had fallen in love with a human prince and used to potion to become human, but met her initial bubbly end after being unable to find true love.<\/span><\/p>\n

The original anime is the 15th anniversary project of\u00a0animation production studio Kinema Citrus<\/strong> as well as the series<\/a> directorial debut of Takushi Koide<\/strong>\u00a0[assistant director, revue costume designer, weapon designer, and more on\u00a0Revue Starlight<\/em> and its movie sequel.]). Shiga Prefecture is Koide\u2019s hometown.<\/span><\/p>\n
