\n\tNetflix and the BBC have given a two-season order to a Peaky Blinders <\/em>sequel show from creator Steven Knight.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI\u2019m thrilled to be announcing this new chapter in the Peaky Blinders <\/em>story. Once again it will be rooted in Birmingham and will tell the story of a city rising from the ashes of the Birmingham blitz. The new generation of Shelbys have taken the wheel and it will be a hell of a ride,\u201d Knight said in a statement on Thursday.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe new Shelby characters will come to Peaky Blinders<\/em> fans through two new seasons of six episodes each. The series<\/a> first premiered on BBC Two in 2013, though Netflix later acquired the rights to release the show in the U.S.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cBritain, 1953. After being heavily bombed in WWII, Birmingham is building a better future out of concrete and steel. In a new era of Steven Knight\u2019s Peaky Blinders<\/em>, the race to own Birmingham\u2019s massive reconstruction project becomes a brutal contest of mythical dimensions. This is a city of unprecedented opportunity and danger, with the\u00a0Shelby family right at its blood-soaked heart,\u201d a synopsis from the producers states.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe sequel series will be shot at Digbeth Loc. Studios in Birmingham and will be produced by Banijay UK\u2019s Kudos and Garrison Drama, the producer of the upcoming Peaky Blinders<\/em> feature film directed by Tom Harper and now in post-production.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tThe film set during the Second World War follows a six-season series run for Peaky Blinders<\/em>, with Oscar winner Cillian Murphy, Paul Anderson, Helen McCrory, Tom Hardy and Joe Cole leading the big screen cast.<\/p>\n

\n\tMona Qureshi for Netflix added in a statement: \u201cWe couldn\u2019t be more excited to be embarking on a new chapter of Peaky Blinders<\/em> with our wonderful partners at Kudos, Garrison Drama and the BBC. There are few modern storytellers to match Steven Knight and we will be on the edge of our seats as he returns to the streets of Birmingham and to the next generation of the Shelby family. Along with our global audience, we are ready to be captivated anew!\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tThe original Peaky Blinders <\/em>series culminated with season six in 2022, shortly before Murphy went on to star in Christopher Nolan\u2019s\u00a0Oppenheimer<\/em>, nabbing an Academy Award.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThis game<\/a>-changing show made a huge impact when it first came to our screens 12 years ago and it is one of the BBC\u2019s most-loved dramas. Steven has worked his magic once again and I can\u2019t wait for his script<\/a>s to be brought to life when filming begins in Birmingham. We are delighted to be working with Kudos, Garrison Drama and Netflix on this epic show. There\u2019s plenty of drama for Peaky fans to look forward to!\u201d Lindsay Salt, director of BBC Drama, added in a statement.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe executive producers of the new Netflix and BBC series are Murphy, Karen Wilson, Martin Haines, Jamie Glazebrook, Jo McClellan, Qureshi and Toby Bentley.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
