That means nearly 9 in 10 Americans double-check or expand their search elsewhere \u201cbecause they don\u2019t trust the first answer,\u201d  according to new survey results from digital presence platform Yext.<\/p>\n<p><strong>By the numbers.<\/strong> Discovery is fragmented:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Traditional search still leads \u2013 45% of U.S. consumers start product research on a search engine. <\/li>\n<li>But AI tools (15%) and review sites (14%) are fast-rising alternatives.<\/li>\n<li>Nearly three-quarters (73%) said they\u2019ve used AI-powered search tools more in the past year, and 45% use them daily. <\/li>\n<li>Consumers still rely on traditional search for sensitive (62%) and everyday (60%) topics.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Social<\/a> rules for discovery.<\/strong> Social media remains a powerful discovery channel:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>52% of respondents said they use it to find reviews<\/li>\n<li>48% for local recommendations, and 47% for how-to guidance<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>AI vs. purchase drivers.<\/strong> AI shines for exploration. But when it comes to buying, consumers revert to traditional drivers like price, peer reviews, and product specs.<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>54% use AI for research, 48% for creative ideas, and 43% for analysis.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Six new search personas. <\/strong>Yext identified six consumer types shaping modern discovery:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>The Traditionalist (24%)<\/strong>: Trusts established search engines for reliable, structured answers.<\/li>\n<li><strong>The Price Shopper (21%)<\/strong>: Prioritizes deals and efficiency.<\/li>\n<li><strong>The Explorer (18%)<\/strong>: Uses AI to dive deep into new ideas and connections.<\/li>\n<li><strong>The Creator (15%)<\/strong>: Relies on AI for brainstorming and creativity, especially Gen Z.<\/li>\n<li><strong>The Social Proof Seeker (14%)<\/strong>: Needs validation from reviews or influencers.<\/li>\n<li><strong>The Accidental Searcher (8%)<\/strong>: Discovers products by chance through social browsing.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><strong>Why we care.<\/strong> Consumers are changing the rules of search, and brands need to keep up (or catch up) to remain visible. As Mark Kabana, VP, Data Innovation at Yext put it: \u201cstructured, machine-ready data is your only shot at being chosen \u2013 not just seen.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>About the survey.<\/strong> The findings are based on a weighted sample of 1,057 U.S. respondents from a broader survey of 2,237 adults in the U.S., U.K., France, and Germany, conducted March 20 to April 6, by Researchscape International on behalf of Yext.
