The OVA episodes were released between December 12, 1993 and July 25, 2000. Two new OVAs titled <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Black Jack Final<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> were released in December 2011, which were helmed by different directors after Dezaki\u2019s passing in April 2011.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size: 12pt\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The original manga series by <\/span><b>Osamu Tezuka<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> was serialized in Akita Shoten\u2019s Weekly Shonen Champion magazine from November 19,1973 to October 14, 1983. A total of 17 tankobon volumes were published in Japan. The manga was previously released in English in the U.S. by Vertical.
