We\u2019re actively working on a fix that will better address the specific type of spam that\u2019s being referenced here, maintaining our high bar for quality in Discover.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>AI spam in Discover. <\/strong>The Press Gazette <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/pressgazette.co.uk\/platforms\/google-promotes-fake-content-to-millions-on-discover-news-platform\/\">documented<\/a> numerous cases where \u201cFake <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news<\/a> stories have been viewed tens of millions of times this week on Google\u2019s Discover news aggregation platform.\u201d Here is a screenshot of some of those stories, as told by The Press Gazette:<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"954\" height=\"778\" http: alt=\"Google Discover Spam\" class=\"wp-image-464586\" srcset=\"https:\/\/searchengineland.com\/wp-content\/seloads\/2025\/11\/google-discover-spam.webp 954w, https:\/\/searchengineland.com\/wp-content\/seloads\/2025\/11\/google-discover-spam-768x626.webp 768w\" data-lazy-sizes=\"(max-width: 954px) 100vw, 954px\" src=\"https:\/\/searchengineland.com\/wp-content\/seloads\/2025\/11\/google-discover-spam.webp\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"954\" height=\"778\" src=\"https:\/\/searchengineland.com\/wp-content\/seloads\/2025\/11\/google-discover-spam.webp\" alt=\"Google Discover Spam\" class=\"wp-image-464586\" srcset=\"https:\/\/searchengineland.com\/wp-content\/seloads\/2025\/11\/google-discover-spam.webp 954w, https:\/\/searchengineland.com\/wp-content\/seloads\/2025\/11\/google-discover-spam-768x626.webp 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 954px) 100vw, 954px\"><\/figure>\n<p>The theory is that these spammers are buying expired domains that were once trusted and leveraging its domain authority to spam Google Discover. Of course, this is not a new trick and Google Search has measures in place to deal with such techniques but some believe that is how this is working.<\/p>\n<p>Jean-Marc Manach, a French data journalist who is tracking these issues, has a database of fake sites generating these AI stories, now includes more than 8,300 in French, 300 in English, and 150 in German.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Why we care. <\/strong>Google Discover can send tons of traffic to a publisher in no time. These fake sites can generate nice revenue, Google can then remove them, only for another site to pop up doing the same thing.<\/p>\n<p>Google will eventually catch on and stop these efforts but who knows what new tricks will come up in the future.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
