So what gives?\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Well, consumers don\u2019t care about AEO versus GEO versus SEO. Or even necessarily choosing between Google and ChatGPT. But opposing search engines and AI search against one another is a false choice.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>These aren\u2019t competing realities. They\u2019re parallel streams of discovery that smart brands must master simultaneously.<\/p>\n<p>The psychology behind this false choice is simple: we crave certainty. We want to know where to invest our limited resources. Google\u2019s global search market share dropped to <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.statista.com\/statistics\/1381664\/worldwide-all-devices-market-share-of-search-engines\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener sponsored nofollow\">89.62% as of March<\/a>, the lowest point in more than a decade.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, ChatGPT\u2019s growth trajectory puts it on track to reach <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/explodingtopics.com\/blog\/chatgpt-users\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener sponsored nofollow\">1 billion users by the end of 2025<\/a>. Seems like an open-and-shut case, right?<\/p>\n<p>Except, consumers aren\u2019t abandoning Google. They\u2019re simply searching more, across a wider range of platforms.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>ChatGPT adoption didn\u2019t reduce Google organic usage, according to recent Semrush data.
