\n\tCocona, a member of the global hip-hop and R&B-inspired group XG, has come out as transmasculine and nonbinary. <\/p>\n

\n\tThe 20-year-old announced the news<\/a> in a birthday Instagram post on the group\u2019s account. \u201cToday, I turned 20. As I reach this new chapter in my life, I want to share something that\u2019s been in my heart for a long time,\u201d Cocona said in the statement. \u201cI am AFAB transmasculine non-binary. Earlier this year, I had top surgery.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tThe statement continues: \u201cI was born and perceived as female, but that label never represented who I truly am. I live in a way that feels more masculine and true to who I am. The hardest thing I\u2019ve ever faced was accepting and embracing myself. But as I slowly began to do that, I was able to open a new door. That moment changed the way I see and understand the world, and it gave me the courage and strength to grow. Now, I can finally say, \u2018There\u2019s nothing wrong with who I am inside.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe rapp<\/a>er said the other members of XG, the group\u2019s producer and label CEO Simon Jakops and their parents are the reason they were \u201cable to come this far.\u201d Cocona also noted in the statement that they are grateful \u201cfor every miracle that brought us together\u201d and what led them to the path they\u2019re on. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThis message turned out a bit long, but I just want to say thank you \u2014 for walking beside me and for supporting me all this way,\u201d the rapper said to wrap up the statement. \u201cI\u2019m so excited for the future we\u2019ll continue to create together with XG and XGALX [the group\u2019s label].\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe seven-piece hip-hop and R&B-inspired group \u2014 made up of members Jurin, Chisa, Hinata, Harvey, Juria, Maya and Cocona \u2014 debuted in 2022. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n
