Netflix will acquire Warner Bros. in a $72 billion deal expected to close after the previously announced<\/a> separation of Warner Bros. Discovery\u2019s Global Networks division, Discovery Global, into a new publicly-traded company, which is expected to be completed in Q3 2026, the company announced<\/a>. <\/p>\n

The acquisition will bring franchises, shows, and movies<\/a> such as The Big Bang Theory<\/em>, The Sopranos<\/em>, Game<\/a> of Thrones<\/em>, The Wizard of Oz<\/em>, and the DC Universe to Netflix\u2019s extensive portfolio, as well as brands like HBO and HBO Max.<\/p>\n

In the video games space, the acquisition means Warner Bros. Games and its subsidiaries\u2014including Avalanche Software, NetherRealm Studios, Portkey Games, Rocksteady Studios, TT Games, WB Games Boston, WB Games Montreal, WB Games New York, and WB Games San Francisco\u2014will soon be under the Netflix banner.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur mission has always been to entertain the world,\u201d said Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos in a press release. \u201cBy combining Warner Bros.\u2019 incredible library of shows and movies\u2014from timeless classics like Casablancaand Citizen Kaneto modern favorites like Harry Potter<\/em> and Friends<\/em>\u2014with our culture-defining titles like Stranger Things<\/em>, KPop Demon Hunters<\/em>, and Squid Game<\/em>, we\u2019ll be able to do that even better. Together, we can give audiences more of what they love and help define the next century of storytelling.\u201d<\/p>\n
