\n\tChapp<\/a>ell Roan took down her tribute to Brigitte Bardot after learning about the provocative French actress\u2019s controversial political views.<\/p>\n

\n\tAfter it was announced that Bardot had died at age 91, the Grammy winner initially took to her Instagram Story on Sunday, writing, \u201cRest in peace Ms. Bardot. She was my inspiration for red wine supernova.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tHowever, she later deleted the post and shared in a new post on Monday, \u201cHoly shit I did not know all that insane shit Mr. Bardot stood for. I do not condone this. Very disappointing to learn.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tAt the beginning of Roan\u2019s song \u201cRed Wine Supernova,\u201d released in 2023, she mentions the French starlet in her lyrics: \u201cShe was a playboy, Brigitte Bardot \/ She showed me things I didn\u2019t know.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tWhile Bardot was known for her roles in And God Created Woman<\/em>, The Truth<\/em> and Contempt<\/em>, she ultimately retired from acting in\u00a01973, at the age of 39, to focus on animal rights activism. However, she later took a decidedly extremist tone in politics as a far-right supporter, backing National Front candidates, including Catherine Megret and Marine Le Pen.<\/p>\n

\n\tShe frequently spoke out against the \u201cIslamisation\u201d of France, condemning the influx of immigrants into France, especially Muslims, the Associated Press<\/a><\/em> reported. Bardot was also criticized for inciting racial hatred and for comparing homosexuals and pedophiles in her book.<\/p>\n

\n\tIn 2018, she also denounced the #MeToo movement, saying at the time, \u201cI thought it was nice to be told that I was beautiful or that I had a nice little ass.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
