Jennifer Lopez<\/strong> and Jennifer Garner<\/strong> may have a certain 6\u20194\u201d someone in common, but that doesn\u2019t mean they\u2019re constantly in touch about it.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s going on two and a half years since J.Lo filed for divorce from Ben Affleck<\/strong> after their short-lived marriage. In the aftermath of their crumbling relationship, Garner memorably stepped in to offer some support to both parties, and for a while there, it seemed like the two Jennifers were developing quite a solid friendship of their own. But it sounds like that\u2019s not something they\u2019ve continued actively trying to cultivate.<\/p>\n

On Sunday, an insider opened up to the DailyMail.com<\/em><\/a> about the state of their friendship in the new year, revealing for the most part they focus on the friendship their children share, not their own:<\/p>\n

\n

\u201cThey aren’t best friends and they’re certainly not going to be going on any girl’s trip<\/a>s with each other. But they respect each other and respect that their kids are friends and want the best for everyone involved.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Together, Ben and Garner share Violet<\/strong>, 20, Fin<\/strong>, 17, and Samuel<\/strong>, 13. Lopez shares 16-year-old twins Max<\/strong> and Emme<\/strong> with ex-husband Marc Anthony<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Last month, the two lovely ladies were spotted attending a school play which featured both Fin and Emme, who reportedly remain close friends. Ben himself was also at the play, but according to the outlet, was not seen interacting with the Jenny from the Block<\/em> singer. Instead, he was sitting in a separate corner with his Daredevil<\/em> co-star and their son Samuel.<\/p>\n

A second source told the outlet the Jennifers \u201cdidn’t interact at all\u201d at the play either. They noted that while Garner \u201cwas very social<\/a> with other parents at the show,\u201d Lopez app<\/a>eared to be \u201ca little more reserved\u201d and focused her energy on giving Emme \u201ca lot of love\u201d after the play wrapped.<\/p>\n

The group event comes in stark contrast to 2024\u2019s year-end play, where Ben was spotted mingling with Lopez and reportedly gave his former stepchild Emme a ton of encouragement after the performance.<\/p>\n

But now, Garner has reportedly made a conscious effort to distance herself from her ex-husband\u2019s ex-wife. The first insider told the outlet:<\/p>\n

\u201cThey are cordial, but besides their kids, their small talk isn’t going to be about Ben or what they are working on. They are both okay with how their relationship stands. They don’t dislike each other, but they also don’t have to be around each other at all times. They never know what to do or not to do when they’re in situations together because they know that the second they interact they would be the focus, and they want the focus to be on the kids.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

That\u2019s respectable! The insider continued:<\/p>\n

\n

\u201cThere is no feud, but their connection is from who they once were married to, not from any kind of friendship, so it is what it is.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

In the past, Lopez has gushed about Garner\u2019s mom skills, once telling Vogue<\/em> in 2022:<\/p>\n

\n

\u201c[She’s] an amazing co-parent, and [Garner and Affleck] work really well together.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

She also noted the transition into becoming a blended family had been \u201cgoing really well so far\u201d at the time.<\/p>\n

After her and Ben\u2019s split, Lopez has remained in touch with his children. It\u2019s been well documented how much Ben\u2019s oldest daughter Violet enjoys her relationship with the pop star, and J.Lo has been seen taking Samuel on multiple shopping trips — the most recent of which included Ben last month.<\/p>\n

We\u2019re just happy to hear everything is amicable and that all the involved parents respect the bonds their children have formed! No need to be besties, but it\u2019s great to put on a cordial face to show a great example of healthy relationships for their kiddos!<\/p>\n
