\n President Trump will likely announce a nominee to fill Ruth Bader Ginsburg\u2019s vacant Supreme Court seat within days, multiple sources with direct knowledge of his plans told ABC News early Saturday.<\/a><\/p>\n

U.S. Circuit Judge Amy Coney Barrett is seen as a leading contender, two sources close to the president told the network.<\/p>\n

The sources said that Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has already reached out to members of the Republican caucus concerning confirmation hearings.<\/p>\n

On Friday night, McConnell issued a statement promising \u201ca vote on the floor\u201d for whomever Trump nominates.<\/p>\n

Supreme Court justices are nominated by the president and then confirmed by a simple, 51-vote majority of the Senate.\u00a0 Republicans currently hold 53 Senate seats.<\/p>\n
