\n BOSTON \u2014 For the first time since Aug. 8, the Yankees had both Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton in the lineup together, with both sluggers having recovered from leg injuries.<\/p>\n

With lefty Martin Perez on the mound, manager Aaron Boone opted to put Judge in his customary No. 2 spot, with Stanton right behind him, hitting third. It\u2019s the first time Stanton hadn\u2019t hit cleanup all season.<\/p>\n

Neither had a hit until the eighth, when Judge singled and scored on Stanton\u2019s double in the 6-5, 12-inning win over Boston. <\/p>\n

Judge struck out with Clint Frazier at third with one out in the 10th and had a scare on a play down the right field line, but Boone thought he was OK. And he was pleased to have them back with a week left in the regular season.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s great,\u2019\u2019 Boone said before the game<\/a>. \u201cObviously, getting those guys back here as we ramp up and getting [them] at-bats and hopefully finding their timing and rhythm.\u201d<\/p>\n

Though the offense had thrived recently, their absence had been felt while they were out.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s significant to see those guys in the middle of the lineup,\u2019\u2019 Brett Gardner saidof Judge and Stanton. \u201cIt\u2019s not just what they do on the field, they make the whole lineup tough to navigate.Both guys are very important to us having success. We have to do our best to keep them healthy.\u201d<\/p>\n

Luke Voit entered Friday night leading the majors with 20 homers in what Boone called an \u201cMVP season.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI just think you\u2019re seeing the growth of a really good hitter that\u2019s gone to another level and now having an MVP season,\u2019\u2019 Boone said before Voit had an RBI single in the win. \u201cIt\u2019s hard to imagine where we\u2019d be without Luke Voit and it\u2019s good to see him starting to find his way into the MVP conversation.\u201d <\/p>\n

The Red Sox had tied the game and had the winning run at third in the 11th when Jonathan Loaisiga fell behind J.D. Martinez 2-0. Gary Sanchez went to the mound and Loaisiga responded by fanning Martinez and getting Christian Vazquez to prolong the game.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe had a rocky start, but he kept making pitches,\u2019\u2019 Boone said of the right-hander. \u201cHe\u2019s gonna play an important role for us if we\u2019re gonna get deep into this thing. It\u2019s not always gonna go perfect. He continued to battle. It was a huge performance.\u201d <\/p>\n\n

The Yankees have J.A. Happ<\/a> starting Saturday and Deivi Garcia on Sunday. How they line up their rotation for the final week of the regular season is still to be determined, as Boone has made it clear that Gerrit Cole and Masahiro Tanaka will start the first two games of the wild card series. <\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re having those conversations now and we\u2019re working through that,\u2019\u2019 Boone said of how they will work their way through the final two series of the year.<\/p>\n

Boone left open the possibility that Cole and Tanaka could have throw days instead of pitching in a game in order to be able to control their workloads.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re getting close to [making decisions],\u2019\u2019 Boone said. \u201cSome things can remain a little fluid through the week, as we\u2019re hopefully fighting for positions and home field. It\u2019s a situation that could continue to evolve.\u201d<\/p>\n\n

With the Yankees\u2019 success in The Bronx this season, Boone said that even without fans, they would prefer to play at home than on the road in the postseason.<\/p>\n
