floor on \u201cAperture,\u201d the first single from his forthcoming album <i>I Kiss All the Time. Disco, Occasionally<\/i>.\n          <\/p>\n<p>\n            The song comes in gently, with soft synthpad chords. The drums and bass, which sound sweetly slapdash, will remind many listeners of Jamie XX, LCD Soundsystem, or even Sylvan Esso\u2019s 2010s hipster hit, &#8220;<a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_new\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=Qr5AIKRPIHo\">Coffee<\/a>.&#8221;\n          <\/p>\n<div class=\"\" style=\"padding-bottom: 20px; margin-top: 20px; text-align: left;\">\n<\/div>\n<p>\n            On it, Styles\u2019s voice comes in at a distance, muffled and ponderous in contrast to his usual classic pop sweetness. And the lyrics are surprisingly fragmented, like flashes of clarity during a late night of moving and drinking. \u201cI&#8217;m told you&#8217;re elevating \/ Drinks go straight to my knees,\u201d he coos softly.\n          <\/p>\n<p>\n            The song is steady, or rather, plodding. Though Styles\u2019s voice gently swells alongside the synths, drums, and an ambient choir, the peaks never reach a true brain-tingling apex. In <i>KATTDO<\/i>, &#8220;kissing&#8221; is \u201call the time,\u201d the \u201cdisco\u201d night is occasional, which may be the problem here. This feels like dance music made by those who only dabble on the dance floor. Such clubbing novices \u2014 like the nightlife newbies who loudly blabber on the dance floor, or have their phone brightness turned up all the way in the club \u2014 can often harsh the vibe. And you can spot them from a mile away.\n          <\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<style>\n<\/style>\n<div id=\"content_block-277057\" class=\"content_block paragraph text triple_gutter_right triple_gutter_left center_align\">\n<div class=\"content_inner_wrapper\">\n<div class=\"paragraph_wrapper center_align\">\n<p>\n            <i>KATTDO<\/i> arrives at a moment when pop and dance are nearly synonymous. In the years since our collective re-emergence from COVID lockdown, we\u2019ve had Beyonce\u2019s 2022 house music odyssey <i>Renaissance<\/i>, Troye Sivan&#8217;s ecstatic \u201crush\u201d , the society-wide dance psychosis that was <i>brat<\/i> summer, and now there\u2019s Pinkpantheress&#8217;s global reign.\n          <\/p>\n<p>\n            What these records and artists had, which \u201cAperture\u201d doesn\u2019t, is a full commitment to the fog machine euphoria of the dance club. They sounded good at home, but their heart beat to the pace of the DJ console.\n          <\/p>\n<p>\n            Like Tame Impala\u2019s recent turn towards domestic dance music, \u201cAperture\u201d gestures towards ecstasy, but lands closer to a saucy cup of orange wine. You may fill your stemless glass up with some in your mid-century modern living room. You may sway alone or with a loved one and kiss.
