\n President Trump said COVID-19 related border restrictions between the US and Canada would be lifted \u201cpretty soon.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re looking at the border with Canada. Canada would like it opened and we want to get back to normal business,\u201d Trump told reporters Friday, \u201cWe\u2019re going to be opening the borders pretty soon.\u201d<\/p>\n

It\u2019s unclear exactly what the president meant as reps for both countries confirmed just hours earlier that travel<\/a> restrictions would continue for at least another month.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are extending non-essential travel restrictions with the United States until October 21st, 2020. We will continue to base our decisions on the best public health advice available to keep Canadians safe,\u201d Bill Blair, Canada\u2019s Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness, said in a tweet<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Travel restrictions on Canada have been in place since March, the same month Trump declared a state of emergency for the US to fight the coronavirus.<\/p>\n

Since then, the US has become one of the most affected countries on earth with nearly 7 million cases and more than 203,000 deaths.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
