\n Twitter has finally apologized to the state Conservative Party after locking down its account for two months.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re writing to let you know that we\u2019ve unsuspended your account. We\u2019re sorry for the inconvenience and hope to see you back on Twitter soon,\u201d the tech giant said in a Sept. 10 email. \u201cWe have systems that find and remove multiple automated spam accounts in bulk, and yours was flagged as spam by mistake.\u201d<\/p>\n

Twitter does not allow accounts to post spammy content to its platform. Some examples of \u201cspam\u201d<\/a> cited by the website as violations of their terms of service include: consistently tweeting links without commentary, sending bulk numbers of replies and comments, or excessive posting duplicate content.<\/p>\n

Party boss Gerard Kassar said he was guilty of none of it and that the most recent suspension was the third time this year the account was flagged for mischief by the company. In the two prior cases, the account dropped for about a week, only to be restored after app<\/a>eals were made.<\/p>\n

\u201cTwitter creates more red flags for conservative organizations that ultimately result in suspensions,\u201d Kassar told The Post. \u201cAs we got closer to the Democratic convention, I started to get really, really concerned because we don\u2019t really use this in an extremely emotional hot-headed type way. We use this as a matter-of-fact account about things that are occurring.\u201d<\/p>\n

Conservatives have longed griped about a double standard on Twitter, saying the company\u2019s rules cater to lefty users or are selectively enforced against more right-leaning voices. While the company will ban you for not using someone\u2019s preferred pronoun<\/a>, tweets from a verified Black Lives Matter activist calling for violence<\/a> remain untouched.<\/p>\n

The Conservative Party of New York\u2019s Twitter account also does not have a coveted blue check verification from the company \u2014 though it\u2019s liberal third-party equivalent, the Working Families Party, does.<\/p>\n

Kassar was lucky to have powerful friends. The day the suspension was lifted, the GOP bosses of the New York State Assembly and Senate published a joint letter to Twitter boss Jack Dorsey demanding redress.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe find your actions \u2026 deeply troubling,\u201d said Assembly minority leader William Barclay and Senate minority leader Robert Ortt.<\/p>\n

Though the cons are back online, the celebration may be short-lived. On Wednesday, Twitter again briefly restricted public access to the account, informing anyone looking to view tweets that \u201cthis account is temporarily restricted.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2019re seeing this warning because there has been some unusual activity from this account,\u201d the message continued.<\/p>\n

Twitter declined to comment beyond their letter to Kassar or address why the account has been caught up in repeated suspensions.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
