\n An Oklahoma State University student is dead after succumbing to injuries sustained after he was bucked off his mount during a rodeo competition in Texas on Thursday.<\/p>\n

Rowdy Lee Swanson, a junior who was studying animal science<\/a>s at OSU, was bucked off his bull during the\u00a0Palo Pinto County Livestock Association\u2019s PRCA Rodeo in Mineral Wells, Texas according to a statement put out by the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are deeply saddened by the passing of Rowdy Swanson at the ProRodeo in Mineral Wells, Texas,\u201d said PRCA CEO George Taylor.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe hearts of the entire rodeo community go out to Rowdy\u2019s family in this tragic time. We will continue to keep Rowdy and his family in our thoughts and prayers.\u201d<\/p>\n

Cody Hollingsworth, the OSU rodeo coach, posted the sad news<\/a> on Twitter<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith a heavy and aching heart, I am saddened to announce that the OSU Rodeo Team has lost one of our own, Rowdy Swanson. He was a big part of our rodeo family and he will be missed immensely. Our thoughts are with the Swanson family at this time.\u201d<\/p>\n

Palo Pinto County Livestock Association also released a statement on Facebook expressing their condolences.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are deeply saddened by the passing of Rowdy Swanson following injuries sustained at the Palo Pinto County Livestock Association\u2019s PRCA Pro Rodeo,\u201d said Rodeo Chairman Scott Fenner.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe entire rodeo committee and our rodeo family extend our heartfelt condolences and deepest sympathies to Rowdy\u2019s mother Venessa, his brother Roper, and his entire family.\u201d\n <\/p><\/div>\n
