\n\tEric Dane\u2018s friends are asking for financial support for the actor\u2019s family after he lost his battle to amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and died on Thursday at the age of 53. The news<\/a> comes just 10 months after Dane first announced his diagnosis in April.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe actor, best known for his role on Grey\u2019s Anatomy <\/em>as Dr. Mark Sloan \u201cMcSteamy\u201d and Jacob Elordi\u2019s dad on HBO\u2019s Euphoria, <\/em>is survived by his two daughters, Billie Beatrice Dane, 15, and Georgia Geraldine Dane, 13, whom he shares with Jawbreaker<\/em> star Rebecca Gayheart.<\/p>\n

\n\tOn Friday, a GoFundMe page<\/a> attributed to \u201cFriends of the Dane Family\u201d was set up to raise funds to \u201chelp provide stability\u201d for his teenage girls.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cFollowing his diagnosis, Eric became a passionate spokesperson for the ALS community, using his voice and platform to advocate for fellow patients and to push for greater awareness,\u201d the page reads in part. \u201cEven as his own health declined, he remained deeply committed to helping others facing the same devastating disease. As his illness progressed far more quickly than anyone could have imagined, Eric\u2019s friends have come together to create this GoFundMe to support his girls and their future needs.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tAt the time of publication, Dane\u2019s GoFundMe has raised $28,272 toward a $250,000 goal.<\/p>\n

\n\tAfter his death, tributes poured in from Hollywood stars such as Shonda Rhimes, Sharon Stone, Sam Levinson, Ashton Kutcher, Nina Dobrev, Alyssa Milano, Kevin McKidd, John Stamos, James Pickens Jr., Selma Blair, and more.<\/p>\n

\n\tSimilar to Dane, after Dawson\u2019s Creek<\/em> star James Van Der Beek died last week from colorectal cancer at age 48, the actor\u2019s friends launched a GoFundMe page<\/a> to support his wife and children after his medical costs left them \u201cout of funds.\u201d And the GoFundMe has raised more than $2.7 million.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
