\n\tStephen Amell, who led NBC\u2019s Suits L.A<\/em><\/a>.<\/em><\/a>, said he\u2019s taking responsibility for the show\u2019s cancellation after one season.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe actor, who played Los Angeles attorney Ted Black in the Suits<\/em> spinoff, made a recent app<\/a>earance on the\u00a0Inside of You with Michael Rosenbaum<\/em>\u00a0podcast<\/a>, where he admitted that he thought the show \u201cwasn\u2019t good enough.\u201d He added, \u201cAnything that ends not on your terms is a failure.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tHowever, Amell also put the show\u2019s lack of success on himself personally, saying, \u201cThe blame rests with me.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWhatever problem you have with the show \u2014 because I think that there were issues \u2014 it\u2019s my job to solve those, to smooth them over and to gloss them up with some type of performance or something that, tangible or otherwise, covers up those mistakes,\u201d he explained. \u201cBecause you do something that is magnetic, that is charismatic, that fixes those problems. And I didn\u2019t do that.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tHe added, \u201cI didn\u2019t find anything ultimately with Ted Black, that character, that translated, that smoothed those things over, that gave us a chance to keep going.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tLater, the Arrow <\/em>alum expanded on his reasoning, saying if the show\u2019s \u201csuccessful, I\u2019m gonna get a disproportionate amount of the credit, and so I think it\u2019s only fair that I stand in front and I take the blame. I\u2019m the lead of the series<\/a> and it didn\u2019t work.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tAmell claimed he wasn\u2019t the only one who questioned the spinoff\u2019s potential, even before it premiered. He said Aaron Korsh \u2014 who created Suits L.A<\/em>.<\/em><\/a> and Suits<\/em>, which ran from 2011 to 2019 \u2014 also had some doubts.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWhen I saw the pilot of\u00a0Suits L.A.<\/em>\u00a0\u2014 and this goes back to about a month after we finished shooting \u2014 I sat down with Aaron Korsh, who created\u00a0Suits<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0Suits L.A.,<\/em>\u00a0and he was editing the pilot. He was like, \u2018I don\u2019t know if this is going to work,’\u201d he recalled. \u201cA lot of what he wanted to do seemed to run up against what the network wanted. It seems like they just \u2026 I don\u2019t want to say they battled, because I wasn\u2019t a part of those conversations, so I\u2019m not going to speculate. But it just seemed like what he wanted to do and what they wanted to do were different.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tAmell concluded that it was \u201ctough\u201d having Suits L.A.<\/em> not renewed for a second season, but that ultimately, \u201cIt\u2019s also not anyone\u2019s fault.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWe certainly thought that we were gonna have another [season] and we\u2019d get to work out some of those issues, and it just so happened that they went, \u2018Nope, we\u2019re gonna pull the plug,’\u201d the Heels<\/em> actor said.<\/p>\n

\n\tSuits L.A.<\/em> also starred Lex Scott Davis, Josh McDermitt, Bryan Greenberg, Rachelle Goulding, Maggie Grace and Troy Winbush.<\/p>\n

\n\tNBC\u2019s president of programming strategy, Jeff Bader, previously said during a conference call with media<\/a> that the spinoff \u201chad a very short run\u201d because \u201cit really just has not resonated\u00a0the way we thought it would. There can be many, many reasons \u2014 people are speculating why it hasn\u2019t resonated, but it\u2019s just not really showing the potential to grow for us in the future, unfortunately.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
