For more than a year now, eagle-eyed observers have been fixated on the visible bruising that seems to app<\/a>ear and reappear on the hands of Donald Trump<\/strong>. At first it was a faint discoloration. Then it was a deeper purple. Sometimes it looked carefully concealed beneath makeup. Other times, it was unmistakable. And now, a new mark has people asking questions all over again.<\/p>\n

During a Medal of Honor ceremony at the White House<\/strong> on Monday, photographers captured something different: along the right side of the president\u2019s neck, stretching from behind his ear toward his hairline, there appeared to be a pronounced red rash, dotted with what looked like scabbing.<\/p>\n

Given the swirl of speculation that has followed the president\u2019s health in recent months, it didn\u2019t take long for the images to make waves. And this time, there was a response.<\/p>\n

In a statement shared with People<\/em> and several other news<\/a> outlets on Monday, White House<\/strong> physician Sean Barbabella<\/strong> addressed the visible irritation directly. He said:<\/p>\n

\u201cPresident Trump is using a very common cream on the right side of his neck, which is a preventative skin treatment, prescribed by the White House Doctor.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The doctor continued:<\/p>\n

\u201cThe president is using this treatment for one week, and the redness is expected to last for a few weeks.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Dr. Barbabella did not specify what condition prompted the prescription, nor did he elaborate on why the treatment was necessary at this time. Thus, the explanation, while straightforward, leaves room for continued curiosity \u2014 especially given the broader conversation surrounding the president\u2019s health.<\/p>\n

The neck rash was not the only visible mark that day. The now-familiar bruise on Trump\u2019s right hand was also present, though partially obscured by makeup, per People<\/em>. It\u2019s an issue that has been addressed before, too. Last year, press secretary Karoline Leavitt<\/strong> attributed the bruising to constant handshaking, insisting the president\u2019s packed schedule and physical engagement with supporters were the cause.<\/p>\n

Later, Dr. Barbabella offered a more clinical explanation, noting that the bruising was consistent with minor soft tissue irritation compounded by aspirin use. (BTW, in a January profile by The Wall Street Journal<\/em>, Trump said he takes 325 milligrams of aspirin daily \u2014 a higher dose than the commonly recommended 81 milligrams \u2014 for heart health. So, that theoretically is something that could explain the bruising.)<\/p>\n
