For the first time since the tragic death of Liam Payne<\/strong>, his old pal Harry Styles<\/strong> is opening up about how much the loss affected him.<\/p>\n

We\u2019re all still in shock over the One Direction<\/strong> singer\u2019s death. Nearly a year and a half later we have a hard time comprehending that he\u2019s really gone \u2014 and so is poor Harry. Ahead of the release of his new album Kiss All The Time, Disco Occasionally<\/em>, the 32-year-old singer sat down with Zane Lowe<\/strong> for an App<\/a>le Music<\/strong> interview to talk about it.<\/p>\n

With \u201cfull transparency,\u201d the Watermelon Sugar<\/em> hitmaker said he isn\u2019t good at \u201cacknowledging\u201d what happened \u2014 and the added pressure of fans waiting for a statement from him made him question his own grief:<\/p>\n

\u201cI think there was a period when he passed away where I really struggled with kind of, like, acknowledging how strange it is to have people kind of, like, own part of your grief in a way. I have such strong feelings around my friend passing away. Then suddenly being, you know, like, aware of there\u2019s maybe a desire from other people [for] you to convey that in some way, or it means you\u2019re not feeling what you\u2019re feeling or something.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

We truly can\u2019t imagine how difficult it must be to struggle with something so personal when the whole world is watching. Harry put it so eloquently without revealing too much about how he feels. What a perfect way to make a statement.<\/p>\n

The 32-year-old went on to reveal he saw a lot of himself in the late pop star, which changed his perspective on his death a lot. He said:<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s difficult to lose any friend, but it\u2019s so difficult to lose a friend who is so like you in so many ways. It\u2019s like, I saw someone with the kindest heart who just wanted to be great.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Losing someone who was such a big part of your life is never easy. Harry is making sure to honor Liam every day, though, adding on Wednesday:<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was a really important moment for me in terms of taking a look at my life and being able to say to myself, \u2018OK, what do I want to do with my life? How do I want to live my life?\u2019 And I think the greatest way you can honor your friends who pass away is by living your life to the fullest.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
