Come for the jokes, stay for the dual heartthrobs battling it out for attention! That just about summarizes this week\u2019s Saturday Night Live<\/em> monologue!<\/p>\n

On Saturday, Ryan Gosling<\/strong> took the Studio 8H<\/strong> stage to host the sketch comedy show for the fourth time \u2014 but the spotlight was quickly stolen from him! During his opening monologue, the Barbie<\/em> star, who wore a pinstrip<\/a>e suit over a red button down shirt, began with gratitude and sarcasm:<\/p>\n

\u201cThank you very much! I\u2019m thrilled to be back hosting, especially now. This is the perfect time to be in New York City: early March. Right? No, it\u2019s beautiful.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

His eyes then dart to the audience where a familiar face is sitting front row:<\/p>\n

Teasing next week\u2019s episode, Harry responds:<\/p>\n

\u201cWell, I\u2019m hosting next week and it\u2019s been a while so I just wanted to watch and get a feel for it.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Ryan hits back:<\/p>\n

The heartthrob goes on to playfully stumble over his words while promoting his new film Project Hail Mary<\/em>:<\/p>\n

\u201cI have a new movie coming out, it\u2019s called Project Harry Styles<\/em> \u2014 nope, nope, that\u2019d be a good movie though. It\u2019s called Project Hail Mary<\/em>. And people are saying it\u2019s like E.T.<\/em> meets Interstellar<\/em>, which is crazy because those are, like, what? Two of the best films of all time? So they\u2019re kind of saying it\u2019s, like, what, double that?\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The<\/em> Notebook<\/em> star then starts giving a long-winded spiel about space before the SNL<\/em> cameras cuts to Harry once again:<\/p>\n

\u201cIt reminds me that the Earth is just a speck in the cosmos. I mean look at that: the pale blue dot. That\u2019s us. On it, everyone you know, everyone you\u2019ve ever heard of, lived out their lives. Every king, every peasant, every \u2014 I\u2019m sorry, why are we on Harry Styles?\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

LOLz! The pop star responds:<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t know, I\u2019m just listening.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Hilariously, Ryan asks him to tone down his cool factor:<\/p>\n

\u201cWell could you listen less cool? It\u2019s like your coolness is becoming a bit of an issue. Anyway, back to the pale blue dot. Home to every hero, every villain, every creator and destroyer of civilizations, every young couple in love.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The camera then cuts to a split screen of both Harry and Ryan as the crowd erupts into laughter. Ryan says:<\/p>\n

\u201cEvery \u2014 what\u2019s going on? I\u2019m just trying to understand why we\u2019d be in a split screen? Come on guys, let\u2019s get rid of the split screen.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

But Ryan should have been a bit more specific, because HE gets removed, leaving only Harry in the frame:<\/p>\n

\u201cNot like that! No! Not like that! You know what I meant. Come on, what\u2019s going on with camera 2?\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The camera operator is then revealed to be wearing a \u201cI heart Harry\u201d crewneck.<\/p>\n

HA!<\/p>\n

Cast member Sarah Sherman<\/strong> then joins Ryan onstage asking if they\u2019re still going to do the \u201cbig dance number,\u201d which he declines \u201cnow that Harry Styles is here.\u201d Poking fun an Morgan Wallen<\/strong>\u2019s infamous SNL<\/em> episode, Sarah jokes, \u201cHarry Styles is here? Get me to God\u2019s country,\u201d before running over to the Watermelon Sugar<\/em> singer. The whole bit crescendoes in nearly the whole cast, including Ryan, singing Harry\u2019s song Sign of the Times<\/em> \u2014 with a bit of I\u2019m Just Ken<\/em> flair.
