Google\u2019s new branded queries filter, announced Nov. 20, lets you separate branded and non-branded search traffic in the <em>Performance<\/em> report.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Why we care. <\/strong>Separating branded and non-branded queries has long required manual regex filters or keyword lists. This update gives you native segmentation in Search Console, making it easier to measure brand demand versus discovery traffic.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Google\u2019s announcement.<\/strong> Google confirmed the broader availability in a <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/posts\/googlesearchcentral_the-branded-queries-filter-in-search-console-activity-7437477733468692480-th0M\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">LinkedIn post<\/a> today:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>\u201cThe branded queries filter in Search Console is now available to all eligible sites! This feature helps you analyze the queries driving traffic to your site by automatically differentiating between branded and non-branded queries.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>The details.<\/strong> The branded queries filter <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ears in the <em>Search results Performance report<\/em>. It lets you segment queries into two groups:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Branded:<\/strong> Queries containing your brand name, variations, misspellings, or brand-related products and services.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Non-branded:<\/strong> All other queries.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>When applied, Search Console limits metrics \u2014 impressions, clicks, CTR, and average position \u2014 to the selected group. The filter works across all search types (Web, Image, Video, <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">News<\/a>) in the report.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Insights report. <\/strong>Google also added a new card <span style=\"box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;\">to the Search Console\u00a0<em>Insights<\/em>\u00a0report that shows<\/span> a click breakdown between branded and non-branded traffic.<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The card helps you measure brand recognition by comparing traffic from users already familiar with your brand versus those discovering your site for the first time, Google said.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Google\u2019s brand classification<\/strong>. Google uses an internal AI-assisted system to determine whether queries are branded. The system can recognize:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Brand names in multiple languages<\/li>\n<li>Misspellings and variations<\/li>\n<li>Queries referring to unique brand products or services<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Some queries may be misclassified due to the contextual nature of brand detection, Google said. The filter is strictly a reporting feature and doesn\u2019t affect search rankings.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What to watch<\/strong>.
