Meta employed nearly 79,000 people as of December 31, according to a recent filing.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThis is speculative reporting about theoretical <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>roaches,\u201d a Meta spokesperson said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The report comes as many tech companies \u2014 most recently Block \u2014 have announced sweeping layoffs that they say are necessary as AI automates more work. But some pundits, and <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sfchronicle.com\/tech\/article\/layoffs-sam-altman-ai-washing-21647451.php\">even executives like OpenAI\u2019s Sam Altman<\/a>, have suggested that many of these cuts are \u201cAI-washing,\u201d where executives <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/opinion\/articles\/2026-03-13\/the-ai-washing-of-job-cuts-is-corrosive-and-confusing\">use AI as cover for other issues<\/a>, such as over-hiring during the pandemic.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The last time Meta announced layoffs of this scale was in November 2022, when it cut 11,000 jobs, followed by another 10,000 in March 2023.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
