The already delayed Fate\/EXTRA Record<\/em> RPG will miss its spring 2026 release window, owing to Bandai Namco Entertainment<\/strong> stepping away from the publisher role.<\/span><\/p>\n

Fate series<\/a> custodian TYPE-MOON<\/strong> (its TYPE-MOON studio BB <\/strong>is developing Fate\/EXTRA Record<\/em>) says that development will still continue. Updates on the new publisher and release date will be delivered when they have been decided.<\/span><\/p>\n

On the background of the new developments, TYPE-MOON mentioned that a review had been carried out following talks with Bandai Namco Entertainment, and that the publisher change was based on \u201cfuture developments.\u201d A change in development structure was a part of that review.<\/span><\/p>\n

Bandai Namco Entertainment will cancel pre-orders on its ASOBI STORE and provide full refunds for customers who used konbini<\/em> payments.<\/span><\/p>\n

Development on Fate\/EXTRA Record<\/em>, a remake of the 2010 PSP dungeon RPG Fate\/EXTRA<\/em>, was announced in 2022. It\u00a0<\/em>is being made for NIntendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Steam, and was planned to be released in 2025 at one point. The game<\/a> features deck-based combat, and will also come with a beefed up scenario and bettered character graphics.<\/span><\/p>\n

A Shaft<\/strong>-produced Fate\/EXTRA <\/em>anime<\/a>, subtitled Last Encore <\/em>and series directed by Yukihiro Miyamoto<\/strong> (Puella Magi Madoka Magica<\/em>), aired in 2018. Its synopsis reads:<\/span><\/p>\n

This is a story of EXTRA that will unfold on a forgotten moon.<\/em><\/span>
The Mooncell Automaton, a spiritron computer that exists on the moon, grants any and all wishes.<\/em><\/span>
A virtual spiritron world created within the Mooncell is SE.RA.PH. With the \u201cHoly Grail\u201d on the line,<\/em><\/span>
