In one of its first actions since signing a memorandum of understanding with the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) said it would interpret how \u201cnon-security crypto assets\u201d fall under federal securities laws.<\/p>\n
In a Tuesday notice, the SEC said<\/a> its interpretation of how to address crypto assets would serve as an \u201cimportant bridge\u201d as lawmakers in the US Congress consider market structure legislation which will codify how financial regulators oversee digital assets.\u00a0<\/p>\n The commission said the interpretation would provide a \u201ccoherent token taxonomy for digital commodities, digital collectibles, digital tools, stablecoins, and digital securities,\u201d address how a \u201cnon-security crypto asset\u201d may or may not be considered an investment contract under the SEC\u2019s purview, and clarify federal securities laws on \u201cairdrops, protocol mining, protocol staking, and the wrapp<\/a>ing of a non-security crypto asset.\u201d<\/p>\n Read more<\/p>\n<\/p>\n If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
