It\u2019s true: culture is often taken for granted when leaders and employees are co-located. However, being a little more selective about the use of email, direct messages, and other private communications can tremendously benefit transparency and increase trust.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Accountability<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Managers unfamiliar with remote work often come from a place of \u2018seeing is believing.\u2019 In other words, they wonder if remote workers\u2026 well, actually work. If this describes you, take your doubts a step further and imagine <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/medium.com\/@whereby\/taking-care-of-yourself-and-your-team-while-figuring-out-remote-work-fbb52011d275\">your newly formed remote team<\/a> may have the same concerns about each other \u2014 and you.<\/p>\n<p>This is why establishing team-wide accountability is so important for remote teams. They send out a weekly <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news<\/a>letter to their team that contains fun tidbits about individual team members. Sometimes they\u2019ll have little quizzes to see how much their team knows about each other.<\/p>\n<p>There are lots of ways to integrate \u2018getting to know you\u2019 time. It can be as simple as setting aside some personal time in internal meetings. You can also add channels to your chat apps specifically designed for conversations about employees\u2019 hobbies and personal interests.
