The nearly nine-minute short is directed by <strong>Sunao Katabuchi <\/strong>(<em>In This Corner of the World<\/em>, <em>Black Lagoon<\/em>) and produced at <strong>CONTRAIL<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 16px\"><em>Fukufuku no Chizu<\/em> follows a tourist who arrives in Fukushima to attend a wedding. After inadvertently leaving her map on a bus, she is given another one by an <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/fukushima.travel\/destination\/paint-your-own-akabeko\/88\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Akabeko<\/a> (\u201cred cow\u201d in the Aizu dialect). Armed with the new map and accompanied by the Akabeko, the tourist embarks on a journey that exposes her to various places and people, as well as representations of the local culture.<\/span><\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\">\n<p>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"\u3010\u7247\u6e15\u9808\u76f4\u76e3\u7763 \u4f5c\u54c1\u3011\u300e\u3075\u304f\u3075\u304f\u306e\u5730\u56f3\u300f \uff5c\u300c\u3075\u304f\u3057\u307e\u307e\u3063\u3077\u300d\u30d6\u30e9\u30f3\u30c9\u30e0\u30fc\u30d3\u30fc \u7b2c\uff12\u5f3e\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/5MqKYe6QqXU?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 16px\">Katabuchi also wrote the <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">script<\/a> for the short, which was originally meant to be out on March 5 (JST) until it was determined that the production needed a little more time. Other staff include:<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px\">\u2022 Planner and supervisor: <strong>Michihiko Yanai<\/strong> (Fukushima Prefecture Creative Director)<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-size: 16px\">\u2022 Assistant director: <strong>Chie Uratani<\/strong> (<em>In This Corner of the World<\/em>)<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-size: 16px\">\u2022 Original character designer: <strong>Fumiyo Kono<\/strong> (<em>In This Corner of the World <\/em>manga creator)<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-size: 16px\">\u2022 Character designer and chief animation director:<strong> Izumi Seguchi<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-size: 16px\">\u2022 Background art director: <strong>Kiyomi Ota<\/strong> (<em>Castle in the Sky<\/em> and <em>My Neighbor Totoro<\/em> background artist)<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-size: 16px\">\u2022 Music composer: <strong>Kotringo<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 16px\">Kotringo performed <em>Fukufuku no Chizu<\/em>\u2018s theme song, \u201cMeguru Tsumugu,\u201d and also its composer, lyricist, and arranger.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 16px\">Katabuchi and CONTRAIL are currently working on historical film <em>The Mourning Children: Nagiko and The Girls Wearing Tsurubami Black<\/em>. The movie is set in Heian era Kyoto, when \u201cthe city was shrouded in darkness due to repeated epidemics of plague.\u201d An updated pilot video\u00a0was released in March 2025.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 16px\">Last month, it was announced that CONTRAIL would be absorbed into <strong>MAPPA<\/strong>. The <em>kanpo<\/em>, or Official Gazette, cited by entertainment <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news<\/a> outlet <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/game\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"7\" title=\"Game\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Game<\/a>biz said that the former would be dissolved with its rights and obligations going to MAPPA. Katabuchi posted that CONTRAIL and its name would still be around, although it would no longer be independently run.
