Chad Gilbert<\/strong> is recovering after undergoing an unexpected brain surgery.<\/p>\n

This week, the New Found Glory<\/strong> musician took to Instagram<\/strong> to share a vulnerable and shocking health update. In a lengthy message, the My Friends Over You<\/em> artist informed fans he noticed he was struggling with control over his extremities last month before collapsing and being admitted to the ER \u2014 where a terrifying discovery was made:<\/p>\n

\u201c\u200b\u200bOn February 20th, I played a show in Nashville and was struggling to control the movements of my left hand. My left leg was getting weaker by the day and I started stumbling and falling at times. On the 23rd I was taken to the ER where a CT scan showed 3 new tumors had app<\/a>eared in my brain.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

That is so scary! However, doctors were able to act quick and operate on his brain:<\/p>\n

\u201cOn 2\/27 I had successful brain surgery and have been recovering in the hospital since. I regained function of my left hand immedia<\/a>tely. My radiation oncologist described it like this: \u2018this is not a fatal blow and not the end of your story, just the beginning of a new chapter.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

What a positive way to look at things. Chad went on:<\/p>\n

\u201cMy recovery has been bumpy at times but I\u2019m feeling much better now and getting stronger by the day. Thankful to everyone who\u2019s checked in on me and helped my family during this lengthy and challenging journey. Can\u2019t use my phone much yet and have a lot of messages to catch up on. More stories to come when my brain is working well again.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
