Japan has been playing around with the idea of a moving life-sized Gundam<\/strong><\/em> for some time, and with pop-culture fans wanting nothing more than to see a full life-sized moving mecha, that wish has been itching to be fulfilled … until it became a reality.<\/p>\n

The White Mobile Suit Gundam<\/strong> that is currently under construction on Yamashita Wharf in Yokohama has entered a new testing phase, one that includes movement. While the current Unicorn Gundam<\/strong> at Diver City in Odaiba does 'move<\/em>', the new Gundam<\/strong> in Yokohama feels like it has jumped straight out of a Gundam<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/a> anime<\/a> onto the wharf of the port town.<\/p>\n

Sadly, unlike anime Gundam<\/strong>, the one at Gundam Factory Yokohama<\/strong> is tethered to the scaffolding around it, meaning it can walk, but only a few steps. We won't be walking around in giant mechas just yet … though I assume they are working on it! Proof of that concept is this sped-up footage of the Gundam<\/strong> moving:<\/p>\n

The Gundam<\/strong> was scheduled to be unveiled in October, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the scheduled opening date for Gundam Factory Yokohama<\/strong> has been pushed back to an undetermined time.<\/p>\n
