\n President Trump is expecting Democratic nominee Joe Biden \u201cto do great\u201d when they square off in the first presidential debate next Tuesday.<\/p>\n

Speaking to \u201cFox & Friends\u201d Monday morning, the commander-in-chief made the pronouncement after being asked what his thoughts were going into next week, when the two will meet face-to-face for the first time since the 45th president\u2019s inauguration in January 2017.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think he\u2019s a professional. I don\u2019t know if he\u2019s all there, but I think he\u2019s a professional,\u201d Trump remarked, adding, \u201cI have to assume that he\u2019s a professional and that he can debate.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t understand what\u2019s going on. He doesn\u2019t seem to be answering questions and he can\u2019t answer questions and much worse, a little while ago when he was on the stage with the Democrats, he couldn\u2019t do well,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n

Getting specific, Trump touted the former vice president\u2019s handling of the Democratic primary debates.<\/p>\n

In the early stages of the primary, he argued, Biden was \u201chorrible when he was debating the Democrats.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cPocahontas just destroyed him,\u201d the president remarked in reference to former 2020 Democrat Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.).<\/p>\n

He then argued that vice presidential candidate Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.), who was previously Biden\u2019s rival on the debate stage, \u201cwas so horrible\u201d to her eventual running mate.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat she said to him was terrible. I\u2019ll tell you what, I watched that, and I\u2019m shocked that he picked her [as his running mate] because he was\u2026treated so badly by Kamala, and then he picks her,\u201d he noted.<\/p>\n

Once Biden made it to the final primary debate between him and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), according to Trump, \u201che did okay.\u201d<\/p>\n

Trump later described the debate as \u201csort of a tie\u201d that \u201cwas nothing great.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve done more in 47 months than he\u2019s done in 47 years \u2014 and that\u2019s absolutely true,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

The first presidential debate will take place Tuesday, Sept. 29 in Cleveland, Ohio. It will be moderated by Fox News<\/a> anchor Chris Wallace.<\/p>\n

Last week, the president called \u201cFox & Friends\u201d and offered similar takes on Biden\u2019s debate performance, warning however that he couldn\u2019t adequately predict how the former VP would perform when they finally squared off.<\/p>\n

Trump argued that it was unclear what kind of shape Biden would be in at the debates from watching his previous performances.<\/p>\n

\u201cWell I don\u2019t know which Biden is going to show up because I watched him during the debates where they had 20 people on the stage \u2026 and he was a disaster, you don\u2019t get worse. He was grossly incompetent. Then I watched him against [Sen.] Bernie [Sanders] and he was okay. He wasn\u2019t Winston Churchill, I can tell you that, but he was okay. He was fine, I said it was like an even debate,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n

Then the president said he began to wonder, \u201c\u2018What did he do? What happ<\/a>ened to him all of a sudden?\u2019 Because he was OK, and Bernie was OK, it was, you know, an extraordinarily boring debate, but he got through it. And I said, \u2018What\u2019s the difference between now and some of those classic moments in the other debates?\u2019 And something was strange, in my opinion, I won\u2019t say what but a lot of people think that something happened and you can\u2019t do that kind of stuff, you just can\u2019t do that kind of stuff.\u201d\n <\/p><\/div>\n
