Some of my coworkers who have Chase direct deposit, and others with the KeyBank card, they\u2019re getting nothing. It\u2019s hit or miss,\u201d the Bergen County resident told The Post.<\/p>\n<p>KeyBank is the institution contracted by the state to process the extra payments to more than 2 million jobless New Yorkers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey said try and get in touch with unemployment [department of labor], but the problem is you can\u2019t get through. They\u2019re a waste. You call and they tell you you\u2019re already certified and they hang up on you,\u201d Overby said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re not going to open until January so all of us, we\u2019re really struggling and we need the money.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Labor Department and KeyBank admitted on Friday that processing glitches prevented many of the 2.26 million recipients from receiving three weeks of retroactive $300 benefits totalling $1.9 billion through President Trump\u2019s Lost Wage Assistance program, as promised.<\/p>\n<p>The president authorized the federal unemployment insurance by executive order on Aug. 8 after the $600-a-week payments provided by the CARES Act expired on July 31 and Congress deadlocked on an extension plan.<\/p>\n<p>State and bank officials said the snafu would be fixed and the payments would land in the bank accounts of anxious jobless recipients by last Friday afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>But the mess landed in Gov. Andrew Cuomo\u2019s lap again on Monday, when a reporter informed him during a press briefing of complaints from jobless New Yorkers who could not access the funds.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_16331432\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img class=\" size-nypost-large-desktop-uncropped wp-image-16331432 lazyload\" alt=\"KeyBank ATM\" width=\"571\" height=\"441\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/09\/200527_keybank_jcricer_10.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=300 300w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/09\/200527_keybank_jcricer_10.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=640 640w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/09\/200527_keybank_jcricer_10.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=1280 1280w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/09\/200527_keybank_jcricer_10.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=571 571w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/09\/200527_keybank_jcricer_10.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=1142 1142w\" data-sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 571px\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\"><span class=\"credit\">J.C.Rice<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Cuomo im<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">media<\/a>tely referred the question to his top aide, Secretary Melissa DeRosa.<\/p>\n<p>DeRosa blamed KeyBank for the delay and warned that the bank would be banned from doing business with state government in the future if it doesn\u2019t fix the problem.<\/p>\n<p>She said the problem was on \u201cKeyBanks\u2019 side,\u201d and added, \u201cThey have been read the Riot Act.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She said state officials were told by KeyBank the processing glitch would be fixed by the end of the day Friday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo. if you\u2019re saying there\u2019s still people on social media this morning, they should reach out to the Department of Labor directly and we\u2019ll also make sure [the agency] issues an update this morning,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut we have been assured by KeyBank this will not h<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>en again, DeRosa said, adding, \u201cWe may consider no longer working with KeyBank.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>KeyBank issued a statement later Monday saying all issues on its end were resolved \u2014 and pointed the finger at the the Labor Department for any outstanding benefits issues.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA processing issue that caused a delay in Lost Wage Assistance (LWA) payments specifically to Key2Benefits cardholders was resolved and all claimants received their funds by 3:30 a.m., Saturday morning,\u201d the statement said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cClaimants who are indicating problems with their expected payment are experiencing a separate issue, for which they should contact the New York Department of Labor.
